Pact is an international non-governmental organization with headquarters in Washington DC, USA. Pact has been in Nigeria since 2005, and currently implements donor funded development projects in 4 States in the area of Health, integrating livelihoods, capacity development, and governance systems. We seek a highly experienced and qualified candidate to fill the position below: Job Title: Institutional Strengthening Officer Location: Gombe Position Summary

  • This position holder will lead all Capacity Development activities for both CBOs and other state partners.
  • The position holder will also be in charge of capacity development for the various networks. The position holder will supervise and provide support to the Institutional Strengthening Officers/Assistants at state offices.
  • S/he will develop context specific support for each of the CBOs based on assessments of the capacities and needs.
  • S/he will support the organizational improvements of our partner CBOs.
  • This position reports directly to the Project Director.
Specific Duties
  • Coordinate and maintain a sustainable capacity of CSO’s and partners for the project.
  • Design and develop capacity development materials, manuals and methodologies/strategies ensuring its implementation in the project.
  • Design and develop assessment tools for organizational assessment to build sustainable institutions.
  • Develop a strategy to build Coalition and networking with partners and CSOs.
  • Facilitating, training, coaching and mentoring of partners and CBOs.
  • Contribution and coordination to organizational development manuals.
  • Coordination of unit team and various organizational projects; relationship management of key stakeholders.
  • Provide support with technical review of proposals; budget planning and financial oversight of sub partners.
  • Supervision and enhancement of internal capacities within the organization and among our CSO partner.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MA in Education, Sociology, Law, Development, Business/Public Administration or another related field. Additional qualification in Public/Community Health is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in capacity development of CSOs and/or government partners.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing a budget; experience in developing strategic plans, work plans, fundraising plans; knowledge of sound financial, human resources and administrative policy and procedure.
  • Experience in facilitating and training as well as production of training and capacity assessment reports.
