Volunteer Trainer – Mental Health Training Department at Anti-suicide and Depression Squad (ASADS)


The Anti-suicide and Depression Squad (ASADS) was birthed by the Executives Helping Initiative to enlighten and increase awareness of mental health in Nigeria with a pivotal focus on depression and suicide. Through awareness programs, training, reach-out programs, etc. the organization makes an impact and equips people with the right skills and knowledge to easily understand, recognize, and seek help when the need arises to prevent suicide and get to a state of mental wellness. ASADS was established in 2018.

Job Title: Volunteer Trainer - Mental Health Training Department

Location: Lagos (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Volunteer

Job Summary

  • The Mental Health Training Department is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help organize and deliver impactful training programs for ASADS executives, members, and forum participants.
  • This role involves collaboration with various organizations to enhance mental health awareness and education.

Key Responsibilities
Training Organization:

  • Plan and conduct regular training sessions for volunteers, support group coordinators, and organizational members on relevant mental health topics.
  • Coordinate mental health training sessions for corporate clients seeking to support their staff.

Program Development:

  • Contribute to the development of training materials and resources that are informative and engaging.
  • Stay updated on current mental health trends and best practices to ensure training content is relevant and effective.

Education and Outreach:

  • Assist in educating forum participants at least once a week on mental health issues and resources.
  • Provide one free virtual training session for volunteers each month to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Collaboration with Experts:

  • Engage with knowledgeable speakers and professionals in the mental health field to facilitate impactful training sessions.
  • Collaborate with other organizations to expand training offerings and resources.

Feedback and Improvement:

  • Gather feedback from participants to continuously improve training programs and address the needs of the community.

Requirements

  • Passion for mental health education and community service.
  • Experience in training or facilitation is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
