Finance Volunteer at Anti-suicide and Depression Squad (ASADS)


The Anti-suicide and Depression Squad (ASADS) was birthed by the Executives Helping Initiative to enlighten and increase awareness of mental health in Nigeria with a pivotal focus on depression and suicide. Through awareness programs, training, reach-out programs, etc. the organization makes an impact and equips people with the right skills and knowledge to easily understand, recognize, and seek help when the need arises to prevent suicide and get to a state of mental wellness. ASADS was established in 2018.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Finance Volunteer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Volunteer (6 months)

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain financial records for ASADS utilizing online spreadsheets and/or bookkeeping software.
  • Ensure all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Initiate payments to vendors while ensuring compliance with authorization protocols.
  • Generate accounting reports and income and expenditure statements.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of ASADS's annual budget as needed.
  • Support cash flow projections.
  • Seek professional advice when necessary and retain written guidance for future reference.
  • Review financial reports and records for accuracy and compliance with relevant financial policies.
  • Periodically reconcile all accounts.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, as well as annual financial statements.

Requirements

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an accounting role.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications.
  • Access to a computer for ongoing connectivity.
  • Ability to present financial statements clearly and confidently.
  • Flexibility to work remotely.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
  • Knowledge of general accounting month-end close activities.
  • Previous experience in accounts payable and receivable functions is preferred.
