Psychosocial Support Facilitator at Malteser International


Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno State, MI is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the IDP population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. They include NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines and hygiene promotion. Job Title: Psychosocial Support Facilitator (m / f / d)

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
Start Date: As soon as possible (preferably by May 2022)
Duration of contract: Till December 2022

Job Description

  • For its work in Maiduguri, Nigeria, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Psychosocial Support Facilitator (m/f/d) – National Position.
  • The Psychosocial Support Facilitator will be responsible for the coordination of all psychosocial related activities of Malteser Programme in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.
  • Within the responsibilities, the Psychosocial Support Facilitator will need to ensure compliance with Malteser International and donor administrative, Financial, Safety and Security, Human Resources and logistic procedures in the work place.

Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and supervise individual or group psychosocial support activities at MI’s WGSS where survivors can receive appropriate and confidential assistance
  • Lead implementation of PSS activities focused on: psychoeducation sessions to survivors, building support network for community reintegration, building confidence and skills
  • Identify other areas of need and ensure that referrals for additional support are taken forward including emotional support, case management, legal support, cash assistance and mental health services
  • Facilitate the assessment of psychosocial needs in collaboration with program management such as rapid assessments and assist in identifying and providing a wide range of support mechanisms covering short-term interventions and referrals.
  • Utilize appropriate PSS and recreational kit materials, subjects, teaching methods, for the respective community, gender, and age group
  • Identify and strengthen community structures through engaging community leaders, women and youth groups as well as other stakeholders to ensure that survivors receive adequate support at the community level

Your Profile

  • Relevant University Degree in relation to the position.
  • Excellent communication skills with children of different age groups and adults
  • Previous women girl safe space experience is an asset
  • Good English skills (speaking and writing); knowledge of beneficiary languages (Kanuri, Shuwa and Hausa)
  • Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a PSS Facilitator, Case Manager, Psychologist, or similar role in an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) 
  • Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards

Salary
