Human Leadership Resources - Our client is recruiting currently suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:     Job Title: Accountant Location: Lagos Industry: Logistics Job Function

  • The role of the Accountant is to manage and control the entire accounting function of the Company in Nigeria and to assist in providing strategic financial direction.
Key Performance Areas:
  • Petty Cash & Bank Management
  • Prepare Bank reconciliation subject to final review by the FD
  • Liaise with company’s bank relationship manager to resolve all banking issues
Account Receivable:
  • Manage the timely submission of client’s invoices
  • Support to credit controller on the collection of all receivables as at when due.
Accounts Payable & Salaries:
  • Compile monthly PAYE, NHF, NSITF, Pension and make payments
  • Attend to the tax consultant about the annual filling of the PAYE & WHT
  • Processing salary payments on bank Statutory Payments (VAT, IRS & SSNIT)
  • Ensure annual ITF payment
  • Review of monthly VAT amount to be paid, ensuring its reconciled in line with the monthly sales
Contracts & Insurance:
  • Review all SPs/Client’s agreements
  • Ensure timely renewal of all insurance (including Medical insurance – HMO) policies
Audit (Tax, FY end & Internal):
  • Manage audit preparations & procedure
  • Liaise with the auditors & tax consultant
  • Relay unresolved matters to the FD
  • Review petty cash reconciliation with supporting documentation & approve posting on SAP
  • Review payments recons of all invoices received from service providers
  • Process payments on bank
  • Register new beneficiaries, ensuring all required documents are in place
  • Review and approve all expense postings on SAP
Intercompany Loan Confirmation:
  • Reconcile Loan account Confirm loan balance with other divisions
Financial Reporting:
  • Provide guidance to finance staff to ensure posting deadlines
Asset Capitalisation:
  • Ensure all asset are capitalized with an approved capex
  • Review the register of assets maintain by staff
  • Do a Depreciation run
Documentation Maintenance:
  • Organize and keep all confidential finance documents for easy retrieval
Team Supervision:
  • Supervise and manage all finance staff
Qualifications Required
  • Computer skills (Especially MS Excel)
  • Communication skills
  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to interact at a high level with clients, senior management and authorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge: Experience in local Tax Legislation.
  • B.Sc. in Business Administration or Accounting Skills and experience required
  • Minimum of 8 years’ working experience including being holding a senior position in account for at least 3 years
  • Knowledge and experience in local finance regulations
