Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker at Gender Equality, Peace and Development Centre (GEPaDC)


Gender Equality, Peace and Development Centre (GEPaDC) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-religious and not-for-profit organization whose goal is the “promotion of gender equality, peace and sustainable development in Nigeria. GEPaDC was establish in 2007 and was registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2010. The organization is working toward promoting Gender Equality, Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Development, Women, Peace & Security, Violence against Women & Girls, Non-violent peace initiatives, Women’s Rights including reproductive health rights, Women’s and Adolescent Health including HIV/AIDS & Reproductive Health, Democracy & Good Governance, Children’s Rights, Youth Development/Mentoring, Environment & Agriculture, Sustainable Development Goals, Livelihood, Education in Emergency and Child Protection.

GEPaDC will be implementing a project for Mission inclusion (FONDATION JULES et PAUL-EMILE LÉGER) funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in Gwoza(Gwoza and Pulka) LGA and Jere LGA(Shuwari lambu and Elyakub camp) on “Emergency Protection and GBV response for internally displaced and vulnerable women and girls in Gwoza and Jere LGAs” targeting 35,000 beneficiaries.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 



Job Title: Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities

  • To identify GBV cases within the project communities and register same.
  • Ensure adherence to child safeguarding and Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure Child Protection Principles upheld including best interest of the child and do no harm.
  • Directly work with women and girls to identify their needs and ensure they receive the necessary support and coordination to achieve social, emotional, educational and economic outcomes.
  • Ensure case work respects the culture and context of each child. Undertake ongoing assessments to identify and address changing needs and any safety concerns for children to ensure they are protected.
  • Escalate any concerns to sector –manager(GBV coordinator).
  • Provide psychosocial activities and case management services to GBV survivor.
  • Identify GBV related services in project community.
  • Identify and refer GBV cases for livelihood assistance.
  • Ensure casework takes place within practice and legislative frameworks.
  • Ensure all stages of case management process implemented to a high standard including registration, needs assessment, case plan, referral, follow up and review, and case closure.
  • Support the establishment of community structures such as WGSS in all project communities with regards to criteria.
  • Facilitate the monthly WGSS meetings in all project locations and write report/minutes.
  • Ensure hard copy files are accurately completed and stored safely.
  • Promote active participation of women and girls and communities in all GBV casework to ensure it is strengthen and solution focused.

Educational Requirements / Experience

  • A minimum of a Degree or HND in Health, Social Work, Psychology, Communications or related social science field.
  • Fluent in Hausa and Kanuri.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with other actors in project locations Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability and ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Experience working with GBV survivor.
  • At least three years experience as case worker.
