Job Title: Finance Assistant

Role Purpose
- The Finance Assistant has oversight responsibility to manage the receipts and disbursement of funds.
- He/she will provide support to the finance unit.
Scope of Role
- Reports to: Finance Officer

Key Areas of Accountabilities
Fund Disbursement:
- Writing of Checks as approved by relevant budget holders
- Maintain proper filing and easy retrieval of finance documentation
- Perform Bank related activities (Pick up Bank Statements, collect office running cash, etc….)
- Conduct weekly and month end cash counts
- Payment of participants and other SCI cash payments out of the office
- Update daily Cash GLACOS and reconcile cash and book balances
Cash Flow:
- Maintain petty cash with strong supervision from the finance officer
- Update & maintain manual cash book
- Maintain optimum cash balances and advises the Finance Officer for cash replenishment (including emergencies)
Financial Information and other support functions:
- Assist during audit to retrieve all relevant documents for audit exercise
- Assist others requiring information on transactions to retrieve relevant payment vouchers and documentation for their use
System Administration:
- Registration of all paid invoices on Agresso on a daily basis
- Single Account Reconciliation
- Weekly Bank Reconciliation
Others:
- Preparing Tax, NHF, and pension payment schedules and cheques to be remitted to the Tax authorities and the various pensions’ administrators and remitting same on a timely basis
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or line manager
Child Safeguarding:
- Level 2 - the responsibilities of the post does not require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people
Working Contacts:
- Internal: All budget-holders, Bank Signatories and other staffs.
- External: Auditors, Bank, Government bodies, include regulatory agencies.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or its equivalent.
- One year post graduation similar experience in a NGO
- Ability to work under pressure.

Job Title: Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist

Role Purpose
- The Gender coordinator will be providing direct technical support to the Child Development Grant Programme to ensure the vision of save the children where all girls and boys can hold diverse hopes and dreams for their futures, and have equal opportunity to make these come true are met.
- The coordinator will provide technical support to mainstream gender in some selected social protection programmes across the country particularly Jigawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano and Federal Level.
- She/he will ensure and disability is integrated into the results based management frameworks, strengthening and supporting gender equality strategies and facilitating gender equality capacity strengthening for field teams via training and tool development.
- She/he will not only ensure programmes are gender sensitive but aim to provide advice on how to make such programmes become gender transformative.
Scope of Role
- Reports to: The senior social protection specialist
- Staff directly reporting to this post: As the focal person for gender and social inclusion for the programme he/she will provide technical support and supervision to staff from the field office especially the Nutrition and inclusion coordinators.
Key Areas of Accountability
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead in the development of a social inclusion strategy for the child development grant programme
- Provide technical support to the integration of gender and disability in the social protection space in Nigeria particularly in policies, plans and programmes.
- Lead in the development of a GSI training manual and build capacity of selected stakeholders made up of government officials, CS, media programme staff and any other identified relevant group
- Provide support the development of the country office gender strategy especially for the child poverty unit.
- Formulate key gender and social inclusion messages and targets from lessons learned, assessments, research and evidence gained through project implementation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of programme objectives and initiatives, both short and long term, encompassing a wide range of issues with a gender lens.
- Ensure that voices of children disaggregated by sex form the basis of all key organizational strategies.
- Acquire information and understanding of key gender and disability issues in the country particularly in the north east focusing on boys and girls (e.g GBV, Early child Marriage, SRH etc) and adapt strategies as necessary.
- Keep a watching brief on policy makers and other key players in relation to G&SI and identify opportunities to raise awareness and influence policy change.
- Develop good knowledge of state and national government structures, parliamentary and political processes and key decision-making structures and how to influence them working with the advocacy team.
- Provide inputs into systems for research, analysis and documentation that underpin evidence for gender based programming and influencing at state and national levels.
- Produce reports, briefing papers and presentations for internal and external audiences, as directed.
- Maintain a strong relationship with other Gender related staff across SCI
- Develop and maintain a network of external contacts with key individuals in the government, NGO sector, civil society and the media particularly working on gender issues and participate in gender working group meetings which may include providing oversight.
- Represent and act as a spokesperson for Save the Children on gender issues various policy forums and advocacy opportunities at national and international levels, as directed.
- Write regular progress reports, including annual impact monitoring reports.
- Perform other tasks, as required, to ensure the smooth running of the programme and organisation.
Qualification and Experience
Essential:
- A post graduate University degree in Social Sciences with academic training in women’s studies, gender and development or a relevant field.
- 5 years’ work experience with an international development organization, with focus on women and girls/gender equality and disability programming.
- Proven experience working on normative change for gender equality and adolescent sexual and reproductive health in sensitive contexts.
- Experience in development of training manuals and building capacity through trainings and system strengthening especially on G&SI related issues.
- Knowledge of the policies, functions, structures and decision-making processes of key Gender and social inclusion issues.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing and evaluating gender-transformative social and behaviour change communication interventions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting with minimal supervision
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Specific knowledge of international development and gender equality issues; experience engaging children and other community members on gender equality issues desirable.

Job Title: Nutrition Specialist

- Support the uptake and implementation of high quality nutrition and SBCC strategy in CDGP focal states, while support the Federal Government on the integration of Nutrition and SBCC into the National Social Safety Nets Programmes in Nigeria to reduce malnutrition and stunting.

Key Areas of Accountabilities
- The Nutrition specialist will provide technical support on Nutrition to the implementation of Child Development grant programme in Nigeria.
- He/She will provide specific support to the integration of nutrition sensitive approaches with special focus on the first 1000 days of life in government policies and plans.
Specifically the specialist will:
Programme support:
- Design and implement a Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) survey in CDGP communities (Treatment 1, 2 and control) to determine retention rates of behaviours promoted during the programme
- Contribute to policy development relating to nutrition and ensure this is consistent with Save the Children overall approach.
- Coordinate the develop a technical guide for government in focal states on sustainable nutrition SBCC approach informed by the KAP assessment results
- Monitor the implementation of nutrition SBCC sustainability strategy by state government with special focus in ensuring the nutrition and SBCC strategy is being implemented according to the sustainability design
- Provide technical support through frequent field visits to programme states, presenting a report with recommendations.
- Support training of key government stakeholders on nutrition, first 1000 days and other related topics.
- Participate on technical meetings related to nutrition programmes, when requested.
- Contributes to the review and adaptation of existing technical resource materials, including guidelines, training manuals, curricula and job aids, as necessary.
- Ensure teams develop quality timely work plans according to the frequency requested by the project.
- In collaboration with the advocacy and campaign teams lead on nutrition advocacy and campaign.
- Support the knowledge management adviser to develop contents related to nutrition, ensuring technical and programmatic issues are captured accurately,
- Observe principles of child rights programming inform in all activities related to nutrition programming including design, analysis, implementation and M& E with a particular focus on gender and diversity, children’s participation. Ensure quality of practice by adhering to the SC Practice Standards on Child Participation.
- Ensure strong coordination and synergies with the other SCI nutrition projects
- Support recruitment of technical staff for nutrition project, as well as induction.
- Provide supervisory and technical support to the Nutrition and inclusion coordinators in the four implementing states.
Documentation and reporting:
- Support project teams to produce timely high quality reports and documentation both to meet donor and internal demands.
- Keep an updated database of proposal, reports and programme data for nutrition within the CDGP support the MEAL team on data analysis
- Provide information and other communication materials for effective support of other departments by meeting service requirements.
- Keep an updated library of nutrition related paper and documents for Nigeria, including HEAs, surveys, etc. carried out by Save the Children or any other stakeholder.
- In collaboration with the Country Office Nutrition, lead on all research related to nutrition carried out by the Country Programme.
Representation and proposal development:
- Create and maintain good relationship with key players in the nutrition sector at Federal and State levels (Government, development agencies, other organizations and research institutes) and represent Save the Children’s nutrition work in Nigeria as requested.
- Participate on the development and review of nutrition related national documents (guidelines, policies, etc.) providing technical inputs in line with Save the Children position paper, policies and evidence based programme expertise.
- Support proposal development, including budgets, for funding both to maintain and expand Save the Children’s work and influence within the nutrition sector.
- Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child protection policies and other staff policies.
Place of Work:
- The post will be based in Abuja, but will require approximately 50% time travelling in other States.
Child Safeguarding:
- Level 3 - The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children or young people and, in the overseas context all posts are considered to be level 3 posts in view of potential situations which may allow staff unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Academic/professional qualification at post graduate level or equivalent in Public Health and/or Nutrition.
- Substantial operational experience (at least 3 years) and a track record of success on nutrition programming, including BCC and IYCF.
- Experience in project management of at least 2 years.
- Demonstrable experience in budget formulation and monitoring.
- Sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and innovate and to set priorities, manageable work plans and evaluate progress.
- Demonstrable ability to acquire a high level of thematic expertise on priority issues within nutrition.
- Experience in providing technical support to partners and in particular government at senior levels.
- Proven capacity to develop a network of contacts with key players from amongst government, donors, international agencies and NGOs, to maintain these relationships over time and to raise significant funding from donor grants.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels.
- Tact and diplomacy are essential.
- Proven capacity to deliver results against objectives, reporting schedules and workplans.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Proficient in word processing, presentations and spreadsheet computer packages.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s values and mission.
