Main Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the health Program Coordinator, the Medical Supervisor will be responsible for the following main activities:
  • Providing technical support to mobile clinic staff and/or OTP staff
  • Management of MC/OTP teams
  • Collection and analysis of health  & pharmaceutical data
  • Developing coherent project implementation strategy
  • Reporting and attendance to different meetings
Tasks Description Providing technical support to mobile clinic staff and/or OTP staff:
  • Train MC staff  and/or OTP staff on medical protocols including hygiene protocols
  • Ensure use and respect of medical protocols through observation and supervision of medical and paramedics staff
  • Implement regular on-the-job trainings and supportive supervision according to a weekly/monthly schedule
  • Train and supervise CHW working in mobile clinic areas
  • Establish mechanisms of providing regular weekly/monthly feedback on statistics and health activities to MC staff  and/or OTP staff
  • Plan and implement thematic capacity building or specific trainings according to the identified needs for MC staff  and/or OTP staff
  • Participate in establishing/improving referral system
  • Supervise drugs stock management in mobile clinics and OTP
Management of MC/OPT teams:
  • Organize the weekly schedule of the MC/OTP teams to ensure the smooth running of the activities
  • Ensure that MC/OTP medical and paramedics staff respect their assigned tasks
  • Provide strong leadership to ensure MC/OTP staff understand and work according to MdM principles
Collection and analysis of health  & pharmaceutical data:
  • Ensure that MC/OTP staff is fully conversant with data collection tools and perform trainings as needed
  • Ensure accurate collection and analysis of MC/OTP data
  • Monitor the drugs consumption by establishing/maintaining mechanisms of consumption record and inform the Health Program Coordinator in case of any unusual consumption
  • Identify and rectify gaps or weaknesses in medical activities by using monitoring and supervision tools
Developing coherent project implementation strategy:
  • Assist in preparing and implementing operational action plan for MC and/or OT component in collaboration with MdM coordination team
  • Assist in the implementation of the project activities in collaboration with MdM coordination team
  • Assist MdM Health Program Coordinator and MdM medical coordinator in preparing data collection tools as well as medical and paramedics protocols
Reporting and attendance to different meetings:
  • Prepare a weekly activities report to submit to the Health Program Coordinator
  • Compile epidemiological reports for inclusion in medical reports or any other relevant reports
  • Compile drug consumption per month and per MC and OTP
  • Participate in a pro-active way to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
Others:
  • Establish good relationship with the different stakeholders in order to have a smooth implementation of MdM project
  • Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
  • Inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security problem in the field
  • Perform other additional duties on request of the Health Program Coordinator and coordination team
  • Because of the emergency relief nature of MDM’s work, working hours may be irregular and employees are expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours under emergency conditions.
  • This job description can be modified according to changes in MDM activities or in the context. It can be amended at any time after mutual consultation, in order to fit the requirements of the programs.
Requirements
  • 2 years' experience as medical doctor
  • Fluent in Hausa- Kanuri is an asset
  • Previous supervision of a clinic team essential
  • Experience with INGO or UN
