The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) was established in 2005 as a non-profit organization and networking alliance of African Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs (FELTPs), and other applied epidemiology training programs. The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) seeks the services of candidates to fill the vacant position for the Nigerian Field Epidemiology and Training Program (NFELTP) program below: Job Title: Survey Manager Location: Lagos Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Survey Manager include;

  • Support the LAGAIS state secretariat in planning and coordination of all survey related activities
  • Active liaising all stakeholders and implementing partners
  • Support the LAGAIS state secretariat in documentation of survey related activities
  • Provide oversight and direction for state-level trainings
  • Work with the data management team to ensure success of the data collection procedures for the LAGAIS
  • Support dissemination of survey results including production of charts, maps, presentations and technical briefs/fact sheets on the outcome of the survey
  • Attend all technical meetings
  • Work with the TC to ensure the prompt day to day running of LAGAISconduct, following the timeline
  • Be prepared to work weekends and travel to enumeration areas when need be
  • Provide oversight and direction for report writing for the LAGAIS
  • Provide logistics for timely retrieval of any completed hard copy questionnaires, incident forms, requisite forms etc.
Key Deliverables:
  • Comprehensive weekly report of survey processes and proceedings
  • Central-level training planning, implementation and reporting
  • Log of activities related to contract implementation
  • Documentation of lessons learnt during the survey period
  • End-of-survey report - Survey reports including fact sheets, technical briefs and full survey report
  • Presentation slides for dissemination of survey findings
  • Trip reports (for trips made during the contract period)
Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience:
  • A university Degree in Medicine with an MPH or its equivalent, with a minimum of 5-years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS programs
  • A sound understanding of HIV/AIDS surveys in resource constrained settings
  • A PhD or fellowship in public health or related field will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership, design, implementation, management and tracking/monitoring of HIV surveys.

  • Support AFENET-NFELTP Administrator in compiling periodic AFENET/LAGAIS and Global fund program update reports.
  • Support the program office in a variety of Administrative, financial and operational duties
  • Performs a variety of routine to moderately skilled clerical support functions, including word processing, data entry, financial management, and other related duties as assigned;
  • Works with AFENET-NFELTP Administrator to prepare and reconcile travel and operational expenses for program staff, residents and stakeholders for program and Global fund activities. Ensure payments are made timely and vouchers for reimbursement are accurate;
  • Support AFENET-NFELTP Administrator in coordinating travel plans for program staff, residents and other program sponsored travelers assigned to AFENET/LAGAIS and Global fund related activities;
Support in maintaining field reports from residents and graduates assigned to core LAGAIS and Global fund activities:
  • Screen all incoming calls and be responsible for messages getting to the supervisor
  • Provide visitors with accurate and appropriate information and direct them to the proper area or personnel
  • May receive and process information of a confidential nature; ensures such information is maintained in strict confidentiality;
  • Perform any other duties /responsibilities as required.
Qualification
  • First University Degree in Social Science fields
Experience:
  • At least one year
Knowledge Requirements
  • Language Proficiency:  Working knowledge of English Language to be able to communicate with staff in the course of his/her work
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different nationalities
  • Job Knowledge:  Proven knowledge of modern office procedures
  • Skills and Abilities:  Ms Word. Ms Excel

  • Drive program vehicle to convey program staff, guests and commodities as approved.
  • Ensure that the office vehicle is in good mechanical and functional condition;
  • Receive and ensure that office mail is delivered to respective destinations and;
  • Handle any assignments that may be assigned from time to time
  • Maintain documentation for administrative use such as mileage and trip authorization tracking information;
  • Witness and ensure that defects are sufficiently fixed at the contractual garage;
Certifications, License, Physical Requirements or Other Expertise Required:
  • Completion of Secondary School
  • Valid driving license
  • Three years driving experience in a recognized public or private organization
  • Trade test level 1
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Language Proficiency: Level IV English (fluency in both written and oral) is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different nationalities
  • Proven knowledge of modern office procedures
