Our goal is to make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of children in need. We support children in areas of Child and Maternal health, protection, Water and sanitation and Migration. Our humanitarian services sector aid children in crisis situations across the world. Tdh in Nigeria is currently implementaing projects in Health and Wash sectors and is recruiting to fill the positions below:     Job Title: Wash Project Assistant Location: Borno General Objective

  • The Wash Project Assistant is providing support for both hardware and software project components and ensure the project is implemented in line with the proposal and project plan.
  • The WASH Project Assistant guarantees and manages the daily decisions and actions to be taken within their intervention domain, in coordination with the sector coordinator or the delegation manager.
Responsabilities and Tasks Information Management:
  • Lead and gather data during needs assessment, baseline studies, and periodic studies, and help feed back findings to stakeholders.
  • Plan activities in coordination with field staff to reduce WASH-related risks.
  • Collect data from field activities and prepare regular reports on global WASH activities
Project planning and implementation:
  • Lead and carry out assessment to identify context based appropriate WASH activities for the community people in consultation with relevant partners and authorities
  • Lead on developing detailed activity planning and implementing the WASH activities both technical and Hygiene promotion.
  • Assist on design to new project and proposal development
  • Ensure that action is taken to mitigate priority WASH related risks.
  • Supervise the teams member by assigning them activities according the priority and support them in order to reach to project objectives.
  • Ensure the project is reaching the indicators
  • Ensure implementation of the activities in line with relevant national/international standards, codes of conduct, and humanitarian principles.
  • Manage the partners and contractors.
  • Take account of gender, protection, the environment, and other important cross cutting concerns in project design, implementation, and reporting; carry out activities in a way that reflects the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. elderly people, children, and people with disabilities.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of the action plans and budget monitoring.
  • Adapt the Tdh tools in WASH and capitalize on experiences by sharing the tools developed in the field with the line manager. (including BOQ and hygiene promotion validation)
  • Train his/her team in the technical and methodological aspects.
  • Direct the implementation and observance of the terms of any financing agreement
  • Compile all the essential technical documents for the projects on a digital medium to be shared with line manager.
Resource management:
  • Use project resources effectively and with care.
  • Facilitate to mobilize local resources and do maximum use of them.
  • Be responsible for his/her own continuing training to develop his/her skills
  • Develop training on WASH technical and methodological aspects and implement them with the team
  • Organize day-to-day logistics, administration, and personnel activities in consultation with the line manager
Monitoring:
  • Monitor safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.
  • Monitor appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities.
  • Collaborate in organizing surveys with his/her supervisor and actively participate in conducting them, going through them and analyzing them.
  • Review of the budget with the line manager, in order to direct future spending or change of expenses forecasted.
Reporting:
  • Participate at the project leader's request in radio and TV broadcasts, documentary films and press articles.
  • Ensure proper record keeping of all activities and prepare monthly/quarterly activity report in time.
  • Write the SITREP
  • Periodically collect data and regularly update individual monitoring files of the Project’s beneficiaries.
  • Identify any major discrepancy/delay that may arise in project implementation and report immediately to line manager.
  • Keep proper records of expenditures and report on these to the line manager
Personal and Team management:
  • Develop common priority actions leading to solutions to the identified problems.
  • Identify the problems associated with the delivery of the project and inform the HR, logistics, beneficiaries.
  • Attend and take part in the meetings (including clusters) necessary for passing on information for the smooth running of activities.
  • Help his/her line manager in setting up the activities schedule every week.
  • Provide professional guidance for team members
Networking / external coordination:
  • Represent Tdh on local exercises in his/her geographic area of responsibility.
  • Always keep in close contact with respective local government
Mandatory Requirements
  • Language Skills: Fluent in local languages and in English, (speaking/reading/writing).
  • Education Degree: Diploma on Wash, Civil Engineering / or Environmental Health
  • Work experience: Previous relevant experience in a WASH function and preferably in an NGO
  • Knowledge & skills: Good analytical and writing skills; Good capacity in communication mobilization and knowledge of participatory approaches; Proven success in implementing Behaviour Change activities; A proven record of effective project and people management
  • Computer skills: Good knowledge in Microsoft Office Pack (Excel and Word and computer sciences).

      Job Title: Wash Technical Supervisor Location: Borno General objective
  • The Wash Technical Supervisor will be responsible for the effective implementation of the WASH project related activities though conducting and coordinating activities according to project standards, protocols, and timelines.
Responsabilities and Tasks Project Management:
  • Develop, implement and monitors the WASH projects, in accordance with multiple objectives, activities and targets outlined within current donor proposals and in line with projects’ budgets
  • Ensure that activities are appropriately monitored and evaluated and proposes, and amendments to WASH strategy, under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • Conduct initial and regular assessments of the WASH projects with the Kobo toolbox tools and activities outcomes according to the M&E plan.
Project Strategy and Planning:
  • In collaboration with the PM Wash, participates in designing technical aspect of the project and objectives for improved support to beneficiaries and contribute actively in its monitoring, evaluation and revision
  • Participates in WASH capitalization, lessons learn and handover report
Database:
  • Oversees the implementation of the database tools
  • Ensures correct data protection procedures and filing
Technical Competences:
  • Experience in water quality testing protocol
  • Ability to determine sanitation strategy in urban contexts
  • Knowledge in civil engineering and ability to do BoQs for sanitation facilities such as latrines and showers
  • Prepare Drawings, Specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in coordination with Tdh team.
  • Coordinate and manage Tender procedures, evaluations, analysis of received bids for rehabilitation works.
  • Prepare and write Contracts for rehabilitation works and ensure that Tdh and local contract agreement clauses are respected.
  • Monitor and inspect progress of construction works, by making regular follow up visits to construction sites and make sure that construction works are performed within the agreed deadlines.
  • Check delivery of materials, overall supervision of the construction sites and make sure that works are done according to technical specifications and are corresponding in terms of quality.
  • Maintain proper records of all tests carried out to ensure quality compliance to construction sites
  • Certify all payments after verification of work performed at sites in coordination with the PM.
  • Attend site meetings at regular intervals, and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Advise on works that might eventually incur extra costs, on time (variations to the contracts, time and cost, if any, shall be verified and appropriate decision should be taken with the Tdh team)
  • Propose recommendations related to improvement of methods and quality of works
  • Liaise with all relevant institutions to guarantee an effective progress and conclusion of all construction in all sites including the defects liability period
Capacity Building:
  • Coordinates the capacity building support to the WASH team, relevant local authorities, and community workers and community groups, as required by the project, particularly with the Local Authority.
  • Provide technical support to WASH team members as needed.
Reporting:
  • Provides compiled meeting minutes reports to the PM
  • Ensures a monthly data analysis reports are submitted
  • Upon completion of the assignment, submits handover report
  • Contributes to donor reporting upon request

      Job Title: Monitoring Database Officer Location: Borno General objective
  • The Monitoring Data Base Officer is monitoring the project in collaboration with the Project Manager. He/She is in charge of the project databases.
Responsabilities and Tasks Project planning and implementation:
  • Monitor and evaluate the Wash project in collaboration with the Project Manager and members of the delegation management.
  • Assist the Project Manager Assistant to implement the project and with setting up and supplying the databases with information for the project, compile and analyze the data.
  • Together with the Project Manager Assistant, coordinate data analysis meetings with supporting statistics, for the Tdh teams as well as the partners
Strategy and policy:
  • Participate in drawing up strategic guidelines for the delegation in coordination with the Project Manager Assistant: collect the data and analyze the opportunities and the risks in economic terms.
  • Participate in drawing up intervention strategies in the field of project monitoring and evaluation and implement them
Research and development:
  • Make suggestions and participate in the development of new tools in his/her field of activity
  • Work on developing best practice in the delegation
Skills development:
  • Be responsible for his/her own continuing training to develop his/her skills
  • Participate in training project staff to use questionnaires and/or enter data
  • Participate in organizing training on the tools and techniques connected with his/her field
  • Support project leaders in drawing up monitoring-evaluation reports
Management of databases and recovery services:
  • Administration of database and information system
  • In collaboration with the project leaders, suggest data-gathering tools.
  • Compile and analyze project data
  • Optimize the reading of the dashboards
  • Gather together the files, back up the database, verify duplications
Reporting:
  • Assist with the periodic statistical reports: monthly/quarterly or annual according to requirements
Project Cycle Management:
  • Support the project leaders with their planning and the writing of new projects
  • Evaluate the quality of the use of the different project management tools set up for performing project activities

      Job Title: Wash Hygiene Promoter Supervisor Location: Borno General Objective
  • The Wash Hygiene Promoter Supervisor will be responsible for planning and supervision of Wash activities to improve hygiene and sanitation within the community and families, including schools, informal learning space, Institutions and health facilities in coordination with the Program Manager and the Wash Technical Supervisor.
  • The Wash Hygiene Promoter Supervisor will ensure compliance with relevant national policies and current recommendations of sector ministries, local authorities and the Wash community of practice.
Responsabilities and Tasks
  • Project Management
  • Plan and monitor contextualized interventions for improved hygiene measures for the IDP’s and Host community families
  • Assist WASH team members to mobilize committees and other local groups, share evaluation results and encourage participation in health campaigns
  • Plan and supervise hygiene promotion activities based on assessment results and community information (community meetings, exhibits, information campaigns, daily observations, use of IEC materials
  • Encourage contact (and participation) with different groups in the community (without discrimination by gender, age and with particular attention to marginalized and neglected groups)
  • Develop hygiene promotion activities and resources and guide their implementation in ways that contribute to local capacity and sustainable use
  • Incorporate disaster risk reduction, gender equality, protection, environment and other cross-cutting aspects of the program in the promotion of hygiene
  • Produce and share daily, weekly and monthly updates with the program manager (for compliance with the monitoring plan) and ensure that all WASH team members are aware of the progress and challenges
  • Manage the team under its responsibility according to HR policy
