Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international aid organization. Our teams are committed to supporting civilians’ victims of marginalization and exclusion, or hit by natural disasters, wars and economic collapses, by answering their fundamental needs. Our aim is to provide emergency relief to uprooted people in order to help them recover their dignity and regain self-sufficiency.

PUI is implementing humanitarian activities in Nigeria since April 2016, by providing a comprehensive integrated response with food security, nutrition, health and protection projects in conflicts affected communities in Borno State.

Job Title: Technical Facilitator - Workshop on Engaging Men, Boys and Adolescent Girls in Preventing and Responding to GBV

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Objective

  • The facilitator will conduct a 4-days’ workshop (max 15 participants) aimed at improving the Protection team’s knowledge and preparedness on how to engage men, boys and adolescent girls in preventing and responding to GBV.
  • He/she will facilitate the active participation of the team members in the selection of training topics and in the fine-tuning of the training curriculum for the engagement of men, boys and adolescent girls in preventing and responding to GBV.
  • The facilitator will also help the team in identifying the best approaches on how to engage the target groups and anticipate challenges.

Methodology:

  • While conducting the workshop the facilitator shall adopt a participatory approach, which engages the participants to the maximum extent. He/She should alternate frontal presentations to case scenarios and group activities, to stimulate as much as possible the audience’s participation.
  • He/she shall adapt the content of the sessions by the curriculum “My Safety, My Wellbeing” (MSMW) and “Engaging Men in Accountability Practices” (EMAP) developed by IRC.

Expected Outputs:

  • Produce PPTs/handouts/scenarios for each session,
  • Provide a handout (min 5 pages, maximum 10) on the training curriculum for engaging men, boys, adolescent girls including the training topics identified with the team as the most relevant ones in Bolori II and a brief explanation of the content for each of them,
  • Design and facilitation of a 4-days interactive workshop. The facilitator should share a plan and sample of training materials 7 days before the launch of the workshop to incorporate feedback,

Expected Outcomes:

  • Participants will improve advocacy and awareness-raising skills in general, specifically on how to mobilize men in preventing GBV,
  • Participants will have full knowledge of the MSMW training curriculum and will be able to facilitate training sessions for adolescent girls,
  • Participants to the workshop will have a better understanding of the concepts of positive masculinity, roots of harmful gender norms, and in general on the role of men in preventing violence against women,

Required Skills and Competencies

  • He/She shall have experience in conducting similar training, and in particular on how to mobilize men in preventing and responding to GBV
  • He/She shall be fluent in English (speaking and writing), and Hausa and or Kanuri,
  • He/She shall prove full knowledge of the MSMW training curriculum,
  • He/She shall have prior working experiences in the Nigerian context and in Borno State preferably,

Administrative Requirements:

  • CAC Form 1.1. This form provides information about the body of directors.
  • Corporate bank account. There is no payment to an individual accountant even though it is the director’s bank account.
  • Tax Number (TIN)
  • CAC certificate of the Company or Organization
  • Means of Identification (ID) of the Director of the company or the representative if there is Power of attorney
  • Tax clearance certificate (not older than 2 years, for example, in the year 2021, we can accept tax clearance certificate of 2019.)

Dates and Duration

  • The proposed dates are 06th - 07th September 2021, 8h30-17h00 (tentatively).

Budget

  • A maximum budget of 840,000 NGN is available for this consultancy, however, a competitive selection process is expected to take place.
