Centre for Human Settlements and Sustainable Developments (CHUSSDEV) is a Non-Governmental Institution registered in Nigeria in 2015 to intervene in the society especially in the area of Environment, Natural resources, Climate change and poverty alleviation with strong emphasis on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. CHUSSDEV is also involved in capacity development of local and state officials towards inclusive and people oriented policies and legislation. The Administration of CHUSSDEV is under the leadership of an Executive Director who is in charge of day to day running of all activities of the organisation. The policy direction of the organization is carried out by the Board of Governors who are Nigerians from different geopolitical zones in Nigeria and are people of proven integrity and impeccable character.

Job Title: Programme Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • We are looking for a dynamic, forward looking Programme Officer to join the operation team of the NGO. The position is based in Abuja with possibility of travels outside Abuja.
  • The Program Officer is part of the professional team of CHUSSDEV and forms part of the strategic team that directs the activities of the organisation including project implementation and resource mobilization.
  • S/He is responsible for program planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the interventions implemented by CHUSSDEV and its partners in the assigned projects.
  • S/He will assist the programme manager with development of work plans, managing Grants and sub-recipient Implementing agencies; managing State, LGA, and Community and facility level stakeholders; other partners and donors in all the assigned activities and project

Required Qualifications/ Experience:

  • A good University Degree in the Arts, Social Sciences or Applied Sciences
  • 2 years post qualification experience
  • Ability to use computer and office packages
  • Adequate skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Willingness to learn and teach others.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria’s Civil Society Environment will be added advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with government level officials and local communities for programmatic interventions
  • Demonstrated ability in working in heterogeneous and diverse environments
