We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Community Mobilization Assistant Location: Monguno, Borno Job Type: Full Time Job Summary

  • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Community Mobilization Officer.
  • The Community Mobilization Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Capacity assessment of Ministry of Health (MOH) workers on promotion of essential nutrition actions.
  • Participate with M&E team in conducting Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP), Baseline/Endline surveys data collection.
  • Mobilize Nutrition Promoters, Care Group Volunteers, Health Workers and conduct focus group discussions.
  • Recruitment of care group promoters and volunteers including establishment of care groups in targeted areas.
  • Organize and facilitate various training for community promoters and health workers on care group modules & lesson plans.
  • Capacity building of community promoters and care group volunteers.
  • Develop monthly action plan for community promoters with reference with agreed work plan.
  • Conduct community mobilization sessions with community leaders, religious leaders on group activities, community role and participation in the project.
  • Maintain close collaboration with Assistant/Nutrition and Health Officers at the local level/health workers for improved exchange of information between care group activities, referrals and follow up of CMAM, health beneficiaries through the care groups and neighbor groups.
Position Requirements
  • A degree in Nutrition, Education, Social work, Psychology, Communications, or related social science field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in community mobilization work particularly in a humanitarian context.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences at local and state level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability and ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members and leaders, partner agencies and key contacts in the government.
  • Working knowledge of MS office.

    Job Title: Community Mobilization Officer Location: Monguno, Borno Job Type: Full Time Job Summary

  • The Community Mobilization Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate with M&E team in conducting Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP), Baseline/Endline surveys data collection.
  • Track the needs and assessment conducted by stakeholders.
  • Participate in the recruitment of community mobilization team, care group promoters and volunteers including establishment of care groups in targeted areas.
  • Prepare budget plan for training, logistic requirement, financial requirement according to existing guidelines and procedures.
  • Draft summary report which includes lessons learnt, challenges and proposed solutions.
  • Develop care group implementation work plan for team members.
  • Maintain a database of community promoters and care group volunteers.
  • Participate in regular internal and external coordination for the program at LGA level and at state level when required.
  • Conduct technical capacity assessment of health facility and health workers in promoting essential nutrition actions including health & Hygiene.

    Job Title: WASH Assistant-Engineering Location: Monguno, Borno Job Summary
  • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the WASH Officer
  • The WASH Assistant is responsible for the direct implementation of WASH activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the supervision of water, electrification and sanitation construction activities.
  • Assist in preparing training tools on relevant technical topics and conduct trainings for stakeholders.
  • Assist the WASH technical officer in the development of technical guidelines and tools.
  • Interact with internal staff and local stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Build relationship with local government to exchange information on WASH technical implementation status.
  • Communicate & report WASH field activities.
  • Conduct field visit and ensure quality assurance of construction and electrification of facilities being delivered and adherence to design specifications.
  • Maintain regular contact with local stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the team members and relevant stakeholders throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the WASH project.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of a National Diploma in Water Engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building  and other related fields with minimum of 1 year field experience.
  • Previous experience in supervising drilling, electrical and construction activities.
  • Professional, good organizational capacity and motivated.

    Job Title: WASH Officer Location: Damaturu, Yobe Job Type: Full Time Job Summary
  • The position is based in Damaturu, Yobe State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager. The WASH Officer is responsible for implementing the WASH project activities to fufill the overall objective of the project to reduce mortality through decreasing the incidence and prevalence of under nutrition in Yobe state.
Task and Responsibilities
  • Organize and supervise the implementation of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) at the local level.
  • Conduct detailed needs assessment based on procedures and guidelines.
  • Identification and training of communities volunteers and local artisans.
  • Conduct community mobilization on CLTS related activities.
  • Compile and submit reports on CLTS  activities.
  • Organize the team work and produce weekly/monthly activities report.
  • Maintaining regular contact and develop relationship with various stakeholders.
Position Requirements
  • Degree in Social Science, Public Health and other related fields.

    Job Title: Sector Manager-Nutrition and Health Location: Monguno, Borno Job Summary
  • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Multi sector Project Manager
  • The Sector Manager-Nutrition and Health is responsible for leading the field team in implementing Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate in conducting SMART/Rapid SMART surveys with technical support from Project Manager and Head of Department.
  • Ensure the maintenance of adequate technical standards for health services provided by health facilities/mobile centers including SAM management.
  • Liaise with Community Mobilization team to ensure improved coordination and collaboration between teams in the ground for appropriate detection and referral of sick children; follow ups required through care groups.
  • Facilitate Quarterly review meetings/workshops with respective government health managers at State/LGA level.
  • Develop Global training plan for government health workers and project teams on specific programme technical components.
  • Systematic capacity building of ACTION AGAINST HUNGER Nutrition and Health team and SMOH staff on health components (IMCI, Ante Natal & Post Natal Care, Delivery  services) including CMAM and SC management.
  • Coordinate with health facilities, district and State/LGA health offices for smooth implementation of the project activities and provision of quality of service.
  • Work with project team to develop overall detailed project implementation plan in line with predefined project implementation work plan.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medicine or Public health. Certificate in project management for development professionals will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in primary health care and maternal health.
  • 2 years’ experience in CMAM and IYCF program.
  • Previous supervisory role.

    Job Title: Nutrition and Health Officer Location: Monguno, Borno Job Type: Full Time Job Summary
  • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager.
  • The Nutrition and Health Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and map the nutrition and health sector activities.
  • Conduct periodic capacity assessment of health workers on CMAM services delivery, IMCI service delivery, reproductive health service delivery, vaccination etc. and review the training needs and/or coaching needs.
  • Monitor and supervise facility based nutrition and health service delivery ensuring services are provided with recommended national technical standards.
  • Review financial, logistical and HR needs on monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Systematic capacity building of State Ministry of Health staff on health service delivery (IMCI, Ante Natal & Post Natal Care, Delivery  services) including CMAM and Stabilization Care management.
  • Participate with M&E team in supervision of data collection for Nutrition KAP surveys, baseline and end line surveys.
  • Liaise with community mobilization team to ensure improved coordination and collaboration between team members.
  • Conduct regular follow up with the teams on the progress of activity, challenges and guide on necessary actions.

    Job Title: Sector Manager-WASH Location: Monguno, Borno Job Type: Full Time Job Summary
  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno and supervised by the Multi-sectoral Project Manager.
  • The Sector Manager is responsible for monitoring and supporting the implementation of the the EU WASH projects in Borno State.
Task and Responsibilities
  • Develop and ensure the use of appropriate techniques and materials for hygiene promotion and training (CLTS, PHAST and CHAST).
  • Plan and manage emergency responses; and priorities activities according to humanitarian needs including sustainability needs.
  • Ensure appropriate design, electrification, construction and implementation of WASH hardware according to technical standards, as well as proper maintenance and use of WASH equipments.
  • Assess feasibility of Action Against Hunger technical support and guidance to partner agencies and relevant governmental bodies, specifically the RUWASA.
  • Analyze and develop reports on WASH activities.
  • Participate in the definition of the WASH strategy for Action Against Hunger as well as identification and design of potential new intervention areas.
  • Manage WASH program staff in order to ensure good compliance of activities within the objectives of the mission and of proposals - this includes regular visits to the field sites in order to evaluate achievements; to discuss the constraints encountered, the possible solutions and to make recommendations for current and future programs.
  • Participate in external coordination within the WASH sector at the country and state level, as well as national level as required.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Technical and Support Coordinators, Project Managers and other members of Action Against Hunger to ensure the coherence of activities and reports in terms of Action Against Hunger WASH strategy.
  • Report and track the progress of WASH project activities.
Position Requirements​
  • Degree in Engineering or Public Health Degree (bachelors or equivalent/higher) in a field related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
  • Additional training courses specific to WASH in development contexts (such as bioforce Institute graduates), and/or Program Management professional certifications, strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant working experience, in a WASH management/supervisory capacity.
  • Strong computer literacy, organizational and planning skills, report writing, budget oversight.

    Job Title: Sector Manager- FSL Location: Monguno, Borno Job Summary
  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and supervised by the Multi-Sector Project Manager.
  • The Sector Manager required to lead the Food, Security and Livelihood field team in the implementation of Food Security and Livelihood activities of the EU project.
  • The aim is to achieve the specific objective of EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Task and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed planning and implementation strategies .
  • Identify program implementation modalities that enhance partnership & coordination with government official and local communities, internal integration within sectors and other programs (Nutrition, WASH).
  • Contribute to organizational and sector-wide learning through documentation of lessons learned, best practices, evaluations etc. from the contextually adapted agricultural productivity and income generating  activities component of the program.
  • Contribute to preparing FSL internal and external reports including case studies and success stories as relate to the contextually adapted agricultural productivity and income generating  activities component of the program.
  • Track and provide quality report on technical activities.
  • Participate in regular internal and external coordination for the program at LGA and state levels when required.
  • Facilitate and support systematic monitoring and evaluation of activities.
  • In close coordination with FSL field staff and M&E team; supervise, review and lead technical assessments, surveys, design and M&E of the contextually adapted agricultural productivity and income generating  activities component of the program.
Requirements
  • Degree in FSL related studies e.g. agro-economy, natural resource management, anthropology, disaster risk management etc.
  • Minimum two years’ work experience in humanitarian contexts, with at least 1 year in conflict/insecure contexts.
  • Capacity to be adaptable and flexible.

  • Previous experience with food security and livelihoods programming.

    Job Title: Nutrition Officer - Health System Strengthening Location: Monguno, Borno Job Summary
  • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager.
  • The Nutrition Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Map nutrition and health services  including gaps in the targeted local government areas.
  • Support the development of Health Systems Strengthening diagnosis and action plan for the targeted LGAs .
  • Provide required information to support development of health facility assessment, community assessment in liaison with Community Mobilization team.
  • Lead the data collection for health center assessment with the State Ministry of Health at the assigned LGA.
  • Participate in the HSS diagnosis and programming workshops
  • Liaise with logistic, finance and HR to ensure appropriate communication and planning to carry out workshops, meetings, data collection at LGA level.
  • Conduct periodic and regular health facility observation in assigned LGA to update the health facility matrix tool and communicate with respective programme teams; external partners at LGA level.
  • Maintain and update health facility matrix for tracking gaps in service provisions, HRH, supplies, technical capacities, information management and availability of policies/guidelines at health facility level for assigned LGA.
  • Review and update budget planning including HSS related follow up of activities on a regular basis.
