Job Title: Sanitation Promoter
Location: Rann, Maiduguri - Borno
Contract Duration: 3 Months
General Description of the Position
- The Sanitation Promoter will be responsible for the effective technical implementation of sanitation and water supply activities, with a focus on installation of hand-washing points, desludging of latrines, maintenance and repairs of Taurpalin-based and Zinc-based VIP latrines, and construction of Zinc-based VIP latrines and semi-permanent showers, rehabilitation, solarisation and reticulation of boreholes, and maintenance and repairs of hand pumps, by means of direct supervision, management and implementation, according to project standards, protocols, and timelines.
- This includes daily supervision and monitoring of sanitation and water supply activities in Rann. The position is to be based in Rann (100%).
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Management:
- Implements and monitors sanitation and water supply activities, under the supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, with a focus on installation of hand-washing points, desludging of latrines, maintenance and repairs of Taurpalin-based and Zinc-based VIP latrines, and construction of Zinc-based VIP latrines and semi-permanent showers, rehabilitation, solarisation and reticulation of boreholes, and maintenance and repairs of hand pumps, in accordance with multiple objectives, activities and targets outlined within current donor proposals and in line with projects’ budgets, impact to beneficiaries and technical quality standards
- Ensures that activities are appropriately monitored and evaluated, under the supervision and in cooperation with the Sanitation Supervisor
- Supervises, monitors and implements regular assessments of the sanitation and water supply activities with the Kobo toolbox tools and activities outcomes according to the M&E plan.
Project Strategy and Planning:
- Under the supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, participates in the implementation of all technical aspects of the sanitation and water supply activities, with a focus on installation of hand-washing points, desludging of latrines, maintenance and repairs of Taurpalin-based and Zinc-based VIP latrines, and construction of Zinc-based VIP latrines and semi-permanent showers, rehabilitation, solarisation and reticulation of boreholes, and maintenance and repairs of hand pumps, for improved support to beneficiaries and contribute actively in its monitoring, evaluation and revision
- Participates in WASH capitalization, lessons learned and handover report.
Technical Supervision:
- Good knowledge on civil engineering, technical design and BoQs for sanitation and water supply facilities, with a focus on installation of hand-washing points, desludging of latrines, maintenance and repairs of Taurpalin-based and Zinc-based VIP latrines, and construction of Zinc-based VIP latrines and semi-permanent showers, rehabilitation, solarisation and reticulation of boreholes, and maintenance and repairs of hand pumps
- Contributes to Technical Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for sanitation and water supply facilities, with a focus on installation of hand-washing points, desludging of latrines, maintenance and repairs of Taurpalin-based and Zinc-based VIP latrines, and construction of Zinc-based VIP latrines and semi-permanent showers, rehabilitation, solarisation and reticulation of boreholes, and maintenance and repairs of hand pumps, in coordination with WASH PM
- Ensure that Tdh and local contract agreement clauses are respected
- Monitor and inspect progress of construction works, by making regular follow up visits to construction sites and make sure that construction works are performed within the agreed deadlines and technical standards
- Monitor and inspect constructed sanitation and water facilities and propose maintenance and repair strategies, at the same time that monitoring the progress of the maintenance and repair strategies
- Check delivery of materials, overall supervision of the construction sites and make sure that works are done according to technical specifications and are corresponding in terms of quality
- Maintain proper records of all tests carried out to ensure quality compliance to construction sites
- Certify all payments after verification of work performed at sites in coordination with the Sanitation Supervisor
- Attend site meetings at regular intervals, and distribute minutes of meetings
- Advise on works that might eventually incur extra costs, on time (variations to the contracts, time and cost, if any, shall be verified and appropriate decision should be taken with the Tdh team)
- Propose recommendations related to improvement of methods and quality of works
- Liaise with all relevant institutions to guarantee an effective progress and conclusion of all construction in all sites including the defects liability period.
Capacity Building:
- Supervises and implements any capacity building support to the WASH team, relevant local authorities, and community workers and community groups, as required by the project, particularly with the Local Authority.
- Provide technical support to WASH team members as needed.
Reporting:
- Ensures that weekly and monthly data analysis reports are submitted.
- Upon completion of the assignment, submits handover report.
- Provides compiled meeting minutes reports to the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Contributes to donor reporting requirements.
Database:
- Contributes the implementation of the database tools for the M&E of the sanitation and water supply activities.
- Ensures correct data protection procedures, and regular and effective data collection and reporting.
Security:
- Comply with Tdh Security Regulations
- Reports any security/safety incident and/or risk to his supervisor.
- Informs WASH staff on security rules defined.
Others:
- Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the PM Wash or the Country representative and that are compatible with the job.
- Maintain and ensure a culture of strict confidentiality inter Tdh staff and between Tdh staff and non Tdh employees.

Job Title: Water Quality Promoter
Location: Borno
Duration: 3 Months Contract
General Description of the Position
- The Water Quality Promoter will be responsible for the effective technical implementation at a daily basis in Rann of all project activities aiming to secure water quality by means of direct supervision and management of chlorination activities, according to project standards, protocols, and timelines.
- This includes regular supervision and monitoring of chlorination activities by the community-based chlorinators based in Rann. The position is to be based in Rann (100%).
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Management:
- Implements and monitors the water quality activities in Rann, under the supervision and in cooperation with the Water Quality Supervisor, with a focus on chlorination and water quality monitoring activities, in accordance with multiple objectives, activities and targets outlined within current donor proposals and in line with projects’ budgets, impact to beneficiaries and water quality standards.

- The Hygiene Promoter will be responsible for the effective technical implementation at a daily basis in Rann of all project activities aiming to promote hygiene&promotion, and distribute NFIs, by means of direct supervision and management of the distribution of WASH and dignity kits, replenishment of hygiene kits and AWD response kits, and hygiene promotion to IDPs and returnees in Rann, according to project standards, protocols, and timelines.
- This includes regular supervision and monitoring of all hygiene and promotion activities by the community-based hygiene promoters in Rann.
- The position is to be based in Rann (100%).
