Job Title: Livelihoods Assistant (GFD)

Background
- DRC has been operating in the West Africa region for over 15 years, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programmes through Country Offices (COs) Guinea, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria and a Regional Office (RO) in Abidjan. DRC has 17 offices and more than 500 staff members across the WA region.
- DRC started operating in Nigeria in 2015 where plans to run a combination of emergency, livelihood, WASH, protection and advocacy programmes has been set. DRC currently has offices in Abuja, Yola, Mubi, Maiduguri and Yobe, with more than 100 staff members subject to increase in the near future
About the Job
- The Livelihoods Assistant – GFD is to assist the Livelihoods Officers - GFD in the implementation of Food distribution activities in Bama and Mafa IDPs camps.
Your Main Duties and Responsibilities will be:
- Assist in all the beneficiary identification, registration, verification and distribution of food.
- Supervise casual labourers
- Conduct training and sensitisation activities related to food distributions and nutrition.
- Assist in Planning, supervising and monitoring training, awareness and sensitisation activities, including maintenance and verification of all supporting documentation and activities (e.g. pre- and post-tests).
- Assist in Maintaining records of all activities, in order to complete timely reports for DRC and for external actors, including donors.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor all food distribution related activities, including screening, referrals and follow up.
- Assist the Livelihoods officer in project documentation.
- Promote the rights of displaced people and affected populations, and explore and assess new and better ways to provide timely, effective and appropriate assistance.
- Assist in gap analysis, needs assessment, conducting registration, receiving commodities and distributing to beneficiaries in locations adversely affected by the conflict.
- Other responsibilities as required by line management.
The Position
- Relevant higher education at college level in nutrition and/or health.
- Experience working as a Nutrition Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Minimum 1 year work experience in a humanitarian/recovery context within Nutrition programmes, preferably with an international NGO.
- Proven experience of registration, verification and distribution in emergency relief operations is a strong advantage
- Computer skills (primarily MS Office applications), especially Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of the context in rural Nigeria
- Strong understanding of protection principles and likely protection concerns arising in the Nigerian context as well as conflict sensitivity
- Experience in complex emergencies and the ability to live and work in a very remote environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and without daily supervision
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Hausa. Competency in Kanuri and/or other local languages appropriate to the target population.

- The Cash Base Transfer Assistant is responsible for assisting the Cash Based Transfer Officer in the implementation of DRC CBT activities in the intervention communities in Borno State (Ngala)
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Assist in planning and ensuring the effective implementation of the CBT (Cash Based Transfer)
- Assist in all CBT related field work, including community mobilization, beneficiary identification/registration, distributions, and monitoring.
- Assist in ensure that beneficiaries are effectively targeted according to established vulnerability criteria.
- Partcipate in trader identification,selection and training
- Assist in payment procedures, including documentation, approval and actual payment/voucher distribution
- Assist in maintaining all documentations relating directly to CBT activities required to ensure accountability to DRC and donors, particularly where labor is concerned.
- Assist in administrative matters relating directly to CBT activities: time-sheets, payment schedules, required paper-work and liaison with finance department.
- Assist in administrative matters relating directly to cash transfer activities including reconciliation with cash-out agents following distributions.
- Contribute to effective program reporting, monitoring and evaluation systems for both internal and external use in coordination with the other program staff.
- Work with the Programme Officer to prepare monthly cash requirement forecast for CBT activities.
- Provide information on CBT activities as requested by the Programme Officer
- Report on any problems encountered in the field such as project participant complaints, local authority interference, and security threats to DRC staff and activities.
- Assist DRC Security Officer and Cash Based Transferme Officer on any threats to DRC staff and activities; promptly reporting incidents/security threats in areas of operation.

- Supervise Nutrition Workers.
- Conduct training and sensitisation activities related to food distributions and nutrition.
