Job Title: JV Accountant

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom
Job Grade: E

Job Purpose / Objectives

  • Provide adequate support for accurate accounting, reporting, budgeting and cost control for assigned Joint Ventures.
  • Support the maintenance of the Joint Venture Accounting ledgers (Net Books) and the reporting of actual results against budget and forecast.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements/accounts.
  • Provide support for all JV tax and commercial activities.

Job & Main Specifications
Education / Knowledge / Experience:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Accounting or any Finance related discipline with excellent knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
  • A professional qualification (ACA, ICAN/ACCA or CIMA).
  • At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in the oil and gas sector or a top accounting firm.
  • Strong systems knowledge of Infor 10 Financials Business (SUN Systems) and Q&A analysis tool will be an added advantage.
  • Advanced Excel and data analytics skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal and report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of Joint Venture and other contractual agreements in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of annual budget and performance reporting for assigned Joint Ventures.
  • Prepare relevant tax schedules and ensure prompt filing of tax returns and payment.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements/accounts.
  • Coordinate regulatory audits, reviews and investigations in the JV e.g., NEITI, NCDMB, DPR etc.
  • Support tax audits, regulatory reviews/audits and investigation.
  • Participate in month end closing activities including monthly group reports, trend analysis and carry out balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure health, safety, environment and social responsibility of self and others.
  • Develop and manage relationships with the Joint Venture Partners.
  • Participate in month-end Hydrocarbon/crude reconciliation.
  • Ensure prompt NXP preparation, liaison with inspection agent, processing bank and terminal operator ahead of crude lifting.
  • Act as contact/interface for FUN JV crude oil commercial activities with Exxon Mobil i.e., computation of monthly crude oil price, coordination and submission of member invoicing processes and shipping documents, follow up with Exxon Mobil on receivables etc.
  • Support the preparation of JV Cash Calls, collate information (invoices, work completion certificates, commitments etc.) required for preparation of JV Cash Calls and prepare Cash Call utilization reports.
  • Support Month-end accounting process for the Gross and Net corporate books.
  • Prepare accounting schedules and manage the JV General Ledgers.
  • Support the preparation of monthly Cost Reports, and Joint interest Billings.
  • Review non operated JV Calls and JIBs and ensure cut back of costs to the JV books.
  • Review tax on Invoices, review Tax schedules prepared for filing and effect tax corrections (where necessary).
