In 2013, it expanded the scope of its services to include Professional Background Screening and Business Brokerage. In 2015 and 2016, it added franchise consulting and recruitment services respectively. We are recruiting for the positions below:     Job Title: Managing Director for National Shea Products Association of Nigeria (NASPAN) Location: Abuja Position Description

  • The managing director leads the strategic planning and provides strong leadership to develop NASPAN into a formidable national association of stakeholders in Nigeria.
  • He leads the day to day running of the organisation in areas of strategic planning, project management, fundraising, partnership development, member recruitment finance and administration.
  • The position is recruited by the Executive Committee in consultation with the managing director.
Reporting:
  • The managing director will report directly to the board of NASPAN and indirectly to the Managing Director of the Global Shea Alliance.
Responsibilities Specific responsibilities are as follows:
  • Schedules meetings, answers inquiries and communicates activities to the board
  • Conducts membership drive through various media to increase membership base and interest in the activities of NASPAN
  • Develops and manages partnerships with service providers, NGO’s and other stakeholders and building and maintaining the database of these partners
  • Coordinates and present results related to the implementation of national initiatives
  • Gathers data to conduct aggregate monitoring and evaluation of progress on key success indicators including shea nut production in country, shea processing capacity and volumes, membership, and more.
  • Maintain and grow the database related to NASPAN initiatives to effectively implement national programs.
  • Develop a strategic and operational plan for NASPAN in consultation with the board, GSA secretariat and partners in Nigeria
  • Lead fundraising efforts at NASPAN to bring funding from donors and other sources
  • Coordinates activities at the NASPAN secretariat, providing administrative support and technical assistance for correspondence between Members, GSA and the board
  • Coordinate the activities of the of all projects in Nigeria in coordination with the GSA secretariat
  • Responsible for organizing events e.g. trade shows, seminars, trainings and the annual general assembly of NASPAN
  • Reports to the GSA secretariat monthly on NASPAN activities including project implementations and budgets.
  • Carries out general administrative and office managerial tasks including financial budgeting and record keeping.
  • Prepares and manages the NASPAN budget and reviews the expenditure with the board
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership position with industry or civil society.
  • Proven project management experience to develop an association, recruit members, establish partnership and implement multiple donors projects
  • Proficiency with industry and non-profit related communications.
  • Background in multi-stakeholder facilitation.
  • Background in non-profit management.
  • Passion for rural development and women’s empowerment in northern Nigeria.
Skills and Teamwork:
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to write technical documents and work with others.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Candidates must demonstrate technical knowledge on the shea industry required to perform the job successfully with a keen ability to learn.
Judgement:
  • Candidates must demonstrate consistent logic; rationality, and objectivity in decision making, shows common sense, anticipates consequences of actions all while working within a pressurized environment.
Flexibility:
  • Candidates must demonstrate ability to adjust easily to everyday changing situations with regards to workload and deadlines

  • Exhibits energy, strong desire to achieve, provide record of success in past performance, evidence of hard work, with a strong attention to detail.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Candidate can communicate candidly and openly, uses language effectively, presents themselves professionally. Proven ability to also communicate effectively when confronted with difficult personalities
Level of effort:
  • The LOE required for this assignment should not exceed 22 days per month, and the consultant is expected to work at the NASPAN office under the daily supervision of CDI.
