SOS Children's Villages Nigeria (SOS CV Nigeria) is one of 136 Member Associations working under the umbrella of SOS Children’s Villages International, an international non-governmental social development organization. We have been active in Nigeria since 1973, with footprints across the country in: Isolo (Lagos State), Owu-Ijebu (Ogun State), Jos (Plateau State) Ibadan (Oyo State), Kaduna (Kaduna State) and Gwagwalada, (Federal Capital Territory).

Job Title: Business to Business Officer

Location: Lagos

Position Summary

  • The role is an excellent opportunity for professionals wishing to nurture relationships with business clients and drive revenue growth, for the well-being of vulnerable children, with a respected, international non-profit organization.
  • The Business-to-Business (B2B) Officer will play a critical role in developing and managing relationships with corporate partners, fostering collaborations to support the NGO’s mission, and driving income generation through business sponsorships, donations, and partnerships.
  • The officer will identify and secure new business opportunities and work towards building sustainable partnerships that align with the goals and objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • The Business-to-Business (B2B) Officer will be responsible for identifying potential business partners and build a pipeline of prospects aligned with the NGO's objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts and partnership agreements with businesses to secure long-term support.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing business partners, ensuring timely reporting and communication on the impact of their contributions.
  • Organize meetings, events, and other engagement activities to keep business partners involved in the NGO’s work.
  • Represent the NGO at business networking events and conferences to promote partnerships.
  • Prepare tailored proposals and sponsorship packages to present to businesses.
  • He/She will develop and execute strategies to engage businesses and secure funding, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.
  • Initiate and manage relationships with business clients, ensuring alignment with the NGO’s vision and values.
  • Plan and execute B2B fundraising campaigns to raise consistent financial support from businesses.
  • Achieve and exceed fundraising targets by securing business donations and sponsorships.
  • Develop reports on partnership outcomes, tracking success metrics, and communicating the impact to corporate donors.
  • Regularly update internal databases and CRM systems with partnership and donor information.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential B2B fundraising opportunities, sponsorship trends, and corporate giving patterns.
  • Analyze competitors’ partnerships and identify unique value propositions that the NGO can offer to corporate partners.
  • Work closely with the communications, program, and fundraising teams to align messaging and ensure that business-to-business initiatives support the NGO’s projects and priorities.
  • Data Confidentiality: Understanding data confidentiality principles is compulsory, as the project will rely on them for having accurate and updated data. Treat donor information gathered confidential and secure.
  • Safeguarding Policy: The Business to Business Officer is to support in ensuring that all tasks are in compliance with the Safeguarding Policy Implementation in the Organization.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • BSc in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, or related fields.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in business development, corporate partnerships, fundraising, or a related role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with an understanding of business/corporate CSR trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.
  • A passion for social causes and an understanding of the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective networks.
  • Proven track record of securing corporate funding and building successful partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

Requirements:
The eligible candidate is required to possess the under-listed skills in addition to role-specific requirements.

  • Understanding the NGO/INGO sector is preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of children's rights and child protection issues.
  • Awareness and basic understanding of issues affecting orphans & vulnerable children, such as the causes of vulnerability (e.g. HIV & AIDS, gender discrimination, poverty, etc.), local and national responses, etc.
  • Collaboration skills, being driven to work with others, and being able to build strong working relationships with community members and groups.
  • Fluent in at least one of the local languages spoken in the Programme’s target communities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required within and between project/programme locations.
  • Ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.
  • Strong use of MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Office 365.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English – other languages, an asset.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, including the ability to identify problems and possible solutions, and the ability to clearly reflect these in a report.
  • Good communication skills and People development skills, including facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills, to build the capacities of co-workers from partner organizations; as well as of children and their caregivers, and other community members.
