Game Animator Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Game Animator:

Bachelor’s degree or certificate in computer animation, fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
More education, experience, or proficiency with specific animation software platforms may be preferred.
Portfolio.
You have an animation reel showing key-framed character and creature animations
A solid grasp of the principles of body movement, anticipation, overshoot, follow-through, squash and stretch and other facets of both 2D and 3D animation
Strong communication skills and teamwork
Large visual database and a passion for video games
Related skills; such as modeling, skinning, rigging
