Purpose of the Role
- The Regulatory Affairs Associate provides regulatory support for Consumer and KCP products by understanding the Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) regulatory environment and communicating key requirements for market entry and regulatory compliance to the business
- The Regulatory Affairs Associate supports the preparation, collation and submission of documents related to the registration / import of new products and changes to existing products in SSA.
- This position requires a high degree of interaction with customers, distributors, suppliers, certification agencies, government agencies, standards bodies and KC employees at all levels within the organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support to the Regulatory Affairs Manager, SSA to build capability in the business to ensure that regulatory requirements are considered throughout the product development and product sourcing processes. Conduct training seminars on regulatory requirements and/or impending regulations to the appropriate business team members to enable the best global development activities
- Support and maintain regulatory procedures to ensure consistent, efficient and compliant regulatory processes
- Support for tracking information on regulatory approval in product registrations, preparation of product samples, document packages for regulatory submissions, audits with NAFDAC, SON and other relevant regulatory authority
- Manage self in accordance with the One K-C Behaviors and Culture of Accountability
- Communicate appropriately with all customers, government and regulatory agencies and peers, conducting all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty
- Provide support to the Regulatory Affairs Manager, SSA to develop and implement country and regional product specific regulatory strategies in support of business objectives
- Participate in project teams developing new products to define country regulatory requirements
- Prepare accurate regulatory submissions to secure timely approvals in support of business initiatives
- Monitor the development of impending and changes of regulations and standards. To communicate potential business impact to all appropriate levels of management
- Support training on local and regional regulatory requirements to the appropriate business team members and highlight implications of differences with respect to product development, testing activities and business strategies to minimize business impact and bring speed to the registration process
- Any other regulatory support assigned by the SSA Regulatory Affairs Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Experience should include close working relationships with business functions i.e. Marketing, Manufacturing, Research and Quality functions, and excellent communication skills are essential.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline and typically 3+ years experience in regulatory affairs or alternate relevant function is required.
- Good knowledge of certification / registration in SSA is highly desirable. Additional experience with certification / registration in other countries is desirable.
Technical / Professional Skills:
- Demonstrated evidence of a solid background on technical knowledge of Regulatory Affairs in the SSA region.
Personal Attributes / Key Behaviours
- Experience combined with the proven ability to have been involved in successful project delivery and communication with people at all organizational levels.
- Fluency in English and ability to travel are essential. Additional language(s) used in SSA are desirable
