Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • This role will report directly to the CEO. Our preferred candidate will be personable, tactful and courteous, understands the importance of confidentiality, relish the challenge of a busy office environment.
  • A proficient communicator with the ability to work independently with a, sometimes, tight deadline, open to learning new skills and taking on new responsibilities.

Duties

  • Undertake completeness, accuracy and validity of reports by setting up controls capture all necessary audit questions/possible errors
  • Monitoring the control framework in place to deliver accurate and timely external and internal reports.
  • Conducting walkthroughs, assessing the internal control environment by performing controls and substantive testing
  • Identifying issues and analysing identified issues for their impact on capital and other upstream and downstream processes or systems
  • Drafting recommendations and liaising with the business units to remediate risks, findings and gaps identified during the validation process
  • Conducting research to keep up-to-date with necessary laws
  • Reviewing reports for accuracy and completeness before releasing them to the reporting body
  • Reviewing existing policies and procedures for compliance with laws, regulations, or guidelines
  • Reviewing incoming reports to identify trends or issues that may require additional investigation
  • Writing reports summarizing findings of investigations and legal proceedings
  • Analysing data to identify potential risks and help prevent fraudulent activity by individuals or companies
  • Working with other departments within the organization to create effective policies and procedures

Required Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant, 5 years post qualification with industry experience, especially within a practice.
  • Good literacy & accurate numeracy
  • Analytical mind with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent manner, communication and presentation
  • Advanced User of MS office package – Especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Commercial acumen & Attention to detail
  • Exceptional leadership qualities
  • Quick thinking and critical analytical skills
  • Great organisation skills & Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good grasp of the English language

Advantage:

  • Regulatory reporting experience within a practice/bank
  • Advanced User of MS office package - VCO and VBA.

Remuneration

  • N250,000 - N750,000 Monthly.
