Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. It was established as an affiliate of the Family Health International (FH1360) to sustain FHI’s achievements in strengthening indigenous organizational capacity in Nigeria. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria The Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA) is a three-year pilot project on Hausa language early primary grade reading and numeracy, implemented by FHI 360 in partnership with Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) and Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) as part of UNICEF’s Girls Education Project Phase 3 (GEP3) with funding support from U.K. Department for International Development (DFID). RANA is implemented in collaboration with the governments of Katsina and Zamfara state and aims to improve literacy arid numeracy for girls and boys in primary grades 1-3 by assisting approximately 200 formal schools and Integrated Qur’anic Schools (IQS) in the states.   • Program Officer Under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, H/She will provide support in the coordination activities of the AHNI/Nigeria field offices.
  • H/She will support program planning, design, review and the monitoring of the program implementation and field offices.
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • BS/BA in Education, Behavioral Sciences or its recognized equivalent with 5-7 years of relevant experience with international development programs.
  • Or MS/MA degree in Education, Behavioral Sciences or its recognized equivalent with 3-5 years relevant experience with international development programs.
  • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is an advantage.
    Job Title: Technical Officer - M&E Location: Kebbi Contract Type: Full term Project: RANA Job Description
  • Technical Officer-M&E will collect, enter and clean state-level activity data, monitor flow of data collection and check for data accuracy.
  • The incumbents will maintain regular communication with state-level partners to offer data-requirement support
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • Bachelor degree or HND in the Numerical Sciences or Development Science with at least 3-year work experience in monitoring and evaluation of education programs.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Working knowledge of data processing computer packages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and working knowledge of the Hausa Language.

  • Technical Officer-Education Under the supervision of the RANA Literacy Coordinator, the Technical Officers will coordinate the Hausa Language reading materials content development for continuous professional development of early primary grade teachers with integrated numeracy and gender contents.
  • They will be responsible for the state educational program planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the reading interventions implemented by AHNi and its partners in the assigned States.
  • The Technical Officers are responsible for technical leadership of early grade reading program and/or IQS activities in the assigned states, providing expertise in instruction, assessment, research, coaching, training and materials development.
  • Working closely with the RANA Project Director, Literacy Coordinator and other technical staff, the Technical Officers will ensure effective planning, delivery and documentation of program interventions.
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • Advanced degree in Education with a concentration in early grade reading, literacy, language acquisition and non-formal education or related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in education reform with a focus on primary education sector work in language acquisition and/or child literacy or reading especially in Hausa Language certification as reading/literacy specialist preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with government, partners and/or local government structures and school settings.
  • Proven expertise in mother tongue (LI), early grade reading instruction and/or assessment and reading material development, preferably in Hausa Language.
  • Significant experience in developing and producing of supplementary reading materials, workbooks, trainers’ and teachers’ guides and instructional materials to improve early grades reading.

  • Senior Technical Advisor-Lab. Services in collaboration with the Project Director and STO Lab. Services provides leadership in implementing high quality laboratory services for AHNi including building laboratory capacity at health facility sites to combat HIV, TB, malaria and other infectious diseases.
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • Master's degree in Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science or related degree with 7 to 9 years relevant experience.
  • Or doctorate degree in Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science or related degree with 5 to 7 years relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in laboratory setting of which 3 must be on a HIV laboratory management donor funded program.
  • Certification / license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist is required.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting and working in a donor funded program is required.
  • Proven experience in project development planning and facilitating technical training.

  • Senior Technical Officer - M&E Under the supervision of the Senior Program Advisor and relevant technical leads, and with technical oversight from the Senior Technical Advisor-M&E, is responsible for the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for the state offices
  • The Technical Advisor (M&E) will work with others in the state office and local implementing partners to ensure that state monitoring and evaluation activities are appropriate and meet the donor and projects M&E needs
