Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is a women-led legally registered, local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was founded in 2004 by Josephine Ogazi and Joseph Egwuonwu. WEWE started out as a Community Based Organisation (CBO) with the aim of providing scholarships and economic empowerment to orphans and widows in Okigwe, Imo State and has since expanded its aims and objectives.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 



Job Title: Nutrition and Dietetics Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • S/he will assist in the overall nutrition technical leadership and technical guidance to master trainers, supervisors, and trainers/mentors for successful implementation at sites.
  • S/he will assist in the Master TOT at the national level and co-leads the grantee’s Training of Trainers’ execution at the State level.
  • S/he will assist to ensures the implementation of outpatient treatment interventions for children identified as acutely malnourished using an integrated package of child health services, including a food-based approach and CMAM which focuses on building the capacity of providers to counsel and teaching caregivers to use the locally available foods to rehabilitate moderately malnourished children (and even severe acute malnutrition with no underlying complications) in the outpatient setting, and to use RUTF where available for SAM cases. This also includes ensuring that all children receive routine immunization, treatment of uncomplicated childhood illnesses, and referral to hospitals for complicated cases.
  • S/he will assist to ensure that all children graduating/recovering from the SAM to Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) are counseled in food-based approaches to prevent relapse and further the rehabilitation to normal nutritional status.
  • S/he will assist to provide key expertise on nutrition mentoring, training, and quality assurance to all trainers/mentors.
  • S/he will assist in meeting all projects agreement obligations, including documentation and quality report
  • S/he will assist to provide technical direction for data collection and tracking all enrolled nutrition cases using the nutrition tracker. This includes tracking weight for height, mid-upper arm circumference, and minimum acceptable diet including dietary diversity and minimum meal frequency.
  • S/he will assist in writing project reports and ensures results for project activities are achieved.
  • S/he will assist in the overall oversight of technical aspects of the program.
  • S/he will assist to develop and coordinating training schedules and ensure the availability of qualified trainers.
  • S/he will assist in producing technical deliverables and achieving technical project results as specified by the grant agreement
  • S/he will assist to oversee technical planning and implementation of the approved work plan.
  • S/he will assist to provide on the job mentoring and supportive supervision of trainers and supervisors.
  • S/he will assist in supervising the onsite capacity building of health workers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma or its equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics or any other relevant degree.
  • Must have demonstrable competency in facilitating nutrition screening and counseling, child health mentoring in the clinical setting, and experience leading participatory training sessions.
  • Experience in competency-based skill-building training for health workers
  • Very strong report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work long hours when needed.

  • A Second Class Upper (2.1) or first class or Upper credit in Nutrition and Dietetics with a Bachelor’s Degree or High National Diploma with experience with working in the area of infant and young children feeding (IYCF), or on feeding for moderate to severely malnourished children under five (5) years
  • 1 - 2 years of institutional work experience in working with malnourished children.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technology suave i.e. ability to use social media handles, the internet send an email, etc

Salary and Benefits
The benefits of the trainee positions are:

  • BetweenN100, 000 (Subject to negotiations) monthly to cover transportation costs, meals, incidentals, and an additional 20% of the pension and national health insurance.
  • After the training program and the trainee has a successful outcome in a job interview and performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.
  • Opportunity for in-house job certificated training(s) on the required position for NGOs including statutory compliance for NGOs, and resource mobilization for NGOs.
