Medical Activity Manager at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)

Job Title: Medical Activity Manager

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate to improve the quality of care in services rendered in the facility by:
  • Ensuring Mortality Review / audit, Morbidity audit, and Rational Antibiotic prescriptions are done
  • Participating in the management of HR related questions in collaboration with the HR department (Drafting of a clear duty roster for MDs and management of gaps in cases of absenteeism, drafting down the probation objectives for MDs, Organising the evaluation of MDs after the probation period, feedback.working on the leave plan for MDs, etc);
  • Ensuring implemented admission criteria are well known by medical staff and correctly applied for the admission of patients (All patients should be admitted with a referral note from MoH BEmONC facilities);
  • Ensure compliance with MSF and MOH protocols and SOPs including exit/referral criteria in the hospital.
  • Ensure regular CME and indicate other training needs for medical team, coach medical team members in medical activities.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the quality improvement plan
  • Periodic review of the progress and revisiting of the activities where need be
  • The cycle should continue and add other gaps identified after finding the root cause and developing activities to follow.
  • Ensuring the medical staff are aware of the medical policy on patient safety incidents and Reporting is done appropriately
  • Periodic Point prevalence survey and Rational prescription Analysis are done and constructive feedback is given to the team
  • Ensure Referral system from BEmONC to CEmONC is efficient
  • Gap filling for MDs when necessary
  • Ensure all evaluations are done timely for Doctors, OBGYN, Anaesthetists in line with MSF feedback feed forward process
  • Chair hospital daily morning meetings and uses this meeting platforms to objectively discuss the plans for activities to improve the quality of care.
  • Participate in exploratory missions if needed.
  • Maintain good collaboration with state partners as MOH, and other partners
  • Ensuring that the quality health care for beneficiaries as per MSF/MOH guideline is well provided (availability and correct use of MSF /MOH protocols by health workers, medical ward round is done as per the project recommendation, the mortality review meetings and mortality reports are done in collaboration with the MWAM and submitted to the Hospital Director on time);
  • Participating in the implementation of decision made during ARO discussion in collaboration with the Hospital Director and other departments. Proposing an activity plan for the implementation of the second phase of CEmONC services).
