Job Title: MEAL Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno with travel within the BAY states as required
Employment Type: Full Time
Report to: MEAL Manager
Starting From: 22nd April, 2021

Operational / Context Role
Street Child is looking for a dedicated M&E officer to work both on a 7-month CERF project and a 3-year ECW Multi-Year Resilience Programme. Both projects will be delivered in a consortium partnership with Street Child being the consortium lead for CERF. Both projects seek to provide quality inclusive education for conflict-affected children across the Bay states, providing access to education, building the capacity of teachers, and strengthening protection mechanisms. Street Child’s primary areas of operation will be in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

The ideal candidate will have experience in working in consortium partnerships, with responsibility for collating and verifying member’s data across the consortium. They should have extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation needs across implementing projects, while being able to support local implementing partners in improving their M&E systems. Good communication and team-working skills are essential, and the candidate must also be able to work independently. Analytical thinking, problem-solving and flexibility are expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the consortium coordinator in the collation of data received from consortium members to contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines.
  • In close consultation with the MEAL manager to Coordinate assessments, evaluations and monitoring surveys in the area of operation
  • Support implementing partners in improving their M&E system; with specifics including data collection, database maintenance and data analysis.
  • Support the development and dissemination of knowledge and experience through enhanced communication, strengthened knowledge products and publications
  • Propose and promote creative solutions for knowledge management in the consortium and organization
  • Contribute to adapting existing M&E systems to monitor and evaluate project activities and impact
  • Responsible for accurate data capture and verification across CERF and ECW project interventions, and analyse data collected during monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Maintain an up to date database that reflects the progress of both projects for Street Child and the CERF consortium
  • Write, edit, and summarize field reports to develop quality and informative monthly
  • Additional Tasks: Support with other tasks as needed by the MEAL Manager.

Job Qualifications
Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience (at least 4 years) of working in Nigeria on monitoring and evaluation of projects, with experience of working in a consortium
  • Experience of working across the Bay states in North-East Nigeria
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities
  • Experience in organizing consultations, validation meetings, workshops and capacity building events with stakeholders at the state or local government level

Language:

  • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Strong monitoring and evaluation skills/experience
  • Knowledge of project cycle management.
  • Evident knowledge of electronic data collection platforms (e.g. KoBoToolbox, CSPro, ODK, SurveyCTO).
  • Evident experience with statistical software packages such as Excel, SPSS, Stata, or R.

Terms and Conditions

  • The contract is for 1 year, with an initial probationary period of 3 months.
  • The salary will be proportioned to the candidate experience and balanced to the Street Child salary scale.
