We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Legal Librarian

Location:
Lagos

Responsibilities

  • Acquiring & arranging the Firm's information resources/library and restoring the filing system of official documents
  • Manage the operations of the law library, including monitoring, allocating, organizing and disseminating legal resources
  • Perform topical research for the firm's e-bulletins and other media
  • Produce competitive intelligence reports for the firm's business development efforts
  • Assist with background research for media opportunities
  • Provide legal reference services and government document reference services to staff & clients
  • Conduct in-depth research in wide range of areas including practice-specific areas of law, business intelligence, public records, and legislative history
  • Build a dynamic collection of information resources based on the Firm's information needs
  • Conduct periodic reviews of new and existing electronic resources with an eye toward improved service and research support
  • Gather evidence to support decisions about the development of new services and products
  • Perform various cataloging procedures for all types of library resources
  • Assist with other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Must possess B.Sc. or HND in Library and Information Science or equivalent
  • Must have worked either in a library or that of any higher institution of learning with at least 4-5 years of law librarian experience
  • Familiarity with an appropriate level of descriptive cataloging, classification, and subject analysis to meet the needs of the firm and the nature of its legal materials
  • Familiarity with the Internet and its software applications
  • Familiarity with knowledge of the legal system and the legal profession
  • Familiarity with personal computers & Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with the knowledge of library and information science theory and the creation, organization, and delivery of information within its technological context
