Precious Rubies Empowerment Initiative is a non-profit organisation committed to protecting and rehabilitating women and girls from all forms of Gender Based Violence. We provide shelter and comprehensive services to women and girls of all ages who are survivors of violence.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Lawyer (Volunteer)

Location: Nationwide

Job Description

  • The Volunteer Lawyer will play a crucial role in supporting the legal needs of [NGO Name]. The position involves providing legal guidance, advice, and representation as required.
  • The Lawyer will work closely with the organization's team to ensure legal compliance and contribute to the achievement of the NGO's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Legal Counsel: Provide legal advice on a range of issues relevant to the NGO's operations.
  • Training: Provide legal training and guidance to staff members on legal matters affecting the organization.
  • Risk Management: Identify legal risks and propose appropriate measures to mitigate them.
  • Contract Review: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements on behalf of the organization.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the NGO is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Representation: Represent the organization in legal matters, hearings, and other proceedings as needed.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational policies.

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Law Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the bar in [Country/State].
  • Previous experience in legal practice, preferably in areas relevant to the NGO sector.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and their legal requirements is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Availability to dedicate a specified number of hours per week or month.
  • Professional liability insurance (if applicable).
  • Willingness to undergo any background checks required by the organization.

Remuneration
This is a volunteer position, and no financial compensation will be provided. However, the volunteer lawyer will gain valuable experience, been put on advise website to get jobs from outsiders, contribute to meaningful causes, and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community.
