Job Title: Capacity Development Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
General Objective
- Reporting to the Chid Protection and Education in Emergencies Program Manager, with close support from the Deputy Child Protection and Education in Emergencies Project Manager, the Capacity Development Officer is responsible to support the development and implementation of the capacity development strategy including designing or adapting capacity development tools, systems and assessment methodologies in the areas of Child Protection and Education in Emergencies.
- He/she proactively identifies external opportunities for increasing the technical capacities of staff in Child Protection and Education in Emergencies and other cross cutting themes.
Responsibilities & Task
Capacity Building and Development:
- Conduct regular staff training need assessments of child protection and education teams, including volunteers, and other staff to be trained in child protecion and education thematic areas.
- Develop a staff capacity building plan responding to regular needs assessment in coordination with the Child Protection and Education Program Managers with technical guidance from the Project Coordinator.
- Regularly review Child Protection staff progress through field supervision/observation, meetings and other forms of evaluation to inform need for additional trainings.
- Develop/adapt training modules on areas retated to child protection and education in emergencies in line with Tdh thematic policy and operational guidance and inter-agency standards and best practices.
- Develop and update individual training file for each staff that tracks attended trainings either internal or external according to each individual need assessment and response plan.
- Identify and promptly inform the line manager on upcoming training opportunities in Nigeria to maximize access to training opportunities.
Project(s) Co-operation:
- Liaise regularly with the Program Manager on training and development needs of child protection and education teams to meet project needs.
- Identify and share with Project Manager and/or staff any resources that can support field staff to meet the objectives of the project(s).
- Provide support to Program Manager in designing modules and tools relating to activities aiming to build the capacity of local actors (i.e. inputs on contents and methods of delivery) and support in conducting the trainings/sessions as required.
- Store and update the training packages/contents on agency platforms in coordination with Program Manager.
Coordination and representation:
- Coordinate with other Tdh sectors to ensure mainstreaming and implementation of standardized activities.
- Liaise with other humanitarian actors to seek opportunities for capacity development of child protection and education staff.
Logistics:
- Handle logistic preparations prior to sending Tdh staff to external trainings;
- In charge of identifying training venues, collecting information regarding potential costs arising from internal and external training opportunities and promptly inform the Program Manager.
Other:
- Fully comply with Tdh Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy is upheld at all times.
- Ensure adherence to Tdh standards and quality requirements in all the project activities.
- Adhere to and ensure the team under her/his responsibility follows Tdh administrative and logistical regulations and procedures.
Requirements
- Language Skills: Fluent in local languages and in English (speaking/reading/writing).
- Education Degree: University degree in social work, social studies, human rights, or any other related discipline.
- Work experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of Child Protection/ Protection/Education/SGBV/Social work/Case management.
- Knowledge & skills: Good analytical and writing skills.
- Computer skills: Good knowledge of the MS office software.
- Other: Knowledge of protection systems in Northeastern Nigeria/Good capacity building and supervisory skills/Excellent knowledge of protection and education in emergencies/ Previous experience in child protection and education in emergencies is highly desirable.

Job Title: Education Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
General Objective
- Reporting to the Chid Protection and Education in Emergencies Team Leader, with close support from the Deputy Child Protection and Education in Emergencies Project Manager, the Education Officer is responsible to support the development and implementation of the Education activities in the project locations.
- This position will take responsibility for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of TdHs education programme to improve children’s learning outcomes (literacy, Numeracy and life skills) through both formal and non-formal education activities.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Provide technical support in the areas of education in emergencies to teachers, facilitators, volunteers and community members engaged in the project.
- Closely collaborate with all the concerned stakeholders to ensure that programme goals are achieved and sustained.
- Actively participate in education-related activities and meetings, and seek active collaboration with other players working in the education sector.
- Adhere to the work plan and ensure the activities are fully implemented as per the national/international and North-east Nigeria Education Sector guidelines.
- Ensure close supervision and support to field based education activities
- Support in establisment of CPiE component within the Education activities
- Support set up of clear referral pathways between Education and CP teams in close colllaboration with PSS and Case Work Officers
- Identify and communicate project gaps, challenges and vulnerabilities to the line manager on a timely basis and suggest possible solutions to the problems.
- Actively participate in set up of clear monitoring and evaluation plan (including development and implentation of tools)
- Feed the project monitoring tools with highest level of accuracy in close coordination with project monitoring team.
- Establish and strengthen School Based Management Committees including training and community engagements.
Coordination & Representation:
- Liaise with relevant governemnt authorities, State Universal Basis Education Board, Camp Coordination and Camp Management and relevant humanitarian actors for the proper coordination and implementation of the project.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and final report based on project targets and results.
Child Protection:
- Promote inclusion and equal access to education for every child, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and at-risk children;
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information and data of beneficiaries at all times;
- Ensure Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the programmatic activities;
- Report serious cases of abuse committed against children to the Child Protection Project Manager. Strict confidentiality must be respected.
Other:

Job Title: Casework Officer
Location: Monguno, Borno
General Description of the Position
- The purpose of the position is to support the most vulnerable and at-risk boys, girls, men and women through provision of safe and confidential case management services implemented in accordance with the Inter-agency Case Management Guidelines.
- The post holder will be in charge of implementing case management activities in Monguno ensuring high-quality case management service delivery.
- The job location depends on assignment and might change based on project’s evolving needs.
Responsibilities & Tasks
Case Management:
- Provide individual tailored comprehensive Child Protection Case Management Services to Unaccompanied, Separated and Vulnerable Children as per the Case Management Standard Operating Procedures.
- Receive and provide referral services for specialized case management services.
- Ensure the confidentiality of the information collected during the case management services and input the information on digital platforms.
- Establish harmonious working environment with wide range of stakeholders more specifically, children, beneficiaries, service providers, community leaders, religious leaders, local government authorities.
- Raise the profile of case management services in the project area by training volunteers and raising awareness in the community.
- Support the establishment and strengthen of Community Based Child Protection mechanisms.
- Make strong efforts for the sustainability of the Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms by linking them to government structures and long term programs/projects.
