  • The Operations Assistant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of logistics provided by the Operations Unit (COMU), by providing clerical support
  • He or she works with the Senior Operations and Procurement Specialist to make hotel and airline arrangements, provide assistance to staff in need of visas, assist Expats and TCN in obtaining Nigerian resident visas, coordinate the arrangement of materials and equipment as specified in the activity profiles, and provide assistance to ensure shipments to the projects clear customs in a timely manner.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Arrange hotel for Nigerian staff, participants, consultants who are coming to Abuja for assignments.
  • Arrange hotel for TDY staff coming to assist Nigeria teams.
  • Assist staff in obtaining visas for international travel.
  • Assist in making international and local travel arrangements
  • Arrange for telephones and internet modems for TDY and new staff, as the case may be.
  • Provide assistance and follow up to Expats and TCNs on obtaining Nigerian resident VISAS.
  • Assist in organizing  for the dispatch  of goods  and equipment  whenever  required and ensure  that  packing  list,  waybills  and  export  documentations   where  necessary  are prepared. Additionally, he/she is to ensure that shipping details are communicated in writing promptly to the receiver.
  • Calendar management, i.e ensuring conference rooms are booked and Meeting/conference/activity logistics are arranged, and making sure to update the records regularly.
  • Arrange spaces for new employees making sure the availability of desks, chairs etc. are ready for them to use on the start day.
  • Inventory and asset management.
  • Coordinate the approved Activity Profiles making sure that materials, equipment, etc required for the activity are organized and ready for the activity.
  • Coordinate procurement and engagement of vendors for goods and services.
  • Coordinate catering services for official functions within and outside the office location.
  • Other tasks as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Verbal and written language skills in English required.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to learn complex program procedures.
  • Excellent Computer knowledge. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and knowledge of Photoshop. Learn and become proficient in the firm’s management system (Applied) and other carrier software or websites, as needed. Must also have good memo composition and editing skills.
  • Familiar with internet search engines and able to undertake background search on well-defined tasks.
  • Able to work independently by managing priorities and workload within general schedule of work, instructions and standardized practices.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English.
  • Takes initiative and can start/complete tasks with basic direction.
  • Ability to Multi task and organize ongoing projects, looking for ways to become more efficient in completing tasks.

  • The Laboratory Program Officer position is designed to support the implementation of Lab system strengthening interventions and activities within the RSSH project.
  • Position will work from the Laboratory unit of the Federal Ministry of Health and closely Nigeria Centre for disease Control (NCDC) and with all stakeholders towards a strengthened national laboratory systems.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Support project stakeholder management effort especially as it relates to the lab sector.
  • Support the development of concept notes and guidance documents in relation to project interventions and activities.
  • Support the implementation of project interventions and activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of the project learning agenda.
  • Support reporting of grant activities and results.
  • Support the development of communication products including but not limited to success stories, fact sheets, technical briefs, abstracts and publications.
  • In close collaboration with stakeholders, support the development of high quality laboratory systems in support of the delivery of quality comprehensive HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB services and more.
  • Support the documentation and dissemination of best practices.
  • Support the strengthening of laboratory management information systems as well as laboratory commodity logistics systems in country.
  • Support the development and deployment of standard biosafety and biosecurity guidelines and manuals (including training on same).

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with the laboratory services system in Nigeria
  • MPH should also confer an additional advantage on the applicant.
  • Experience with lab systems strengthening efforts and practices across disease programs [including ATM] and donors.
  • Experience working with the key stakeholders within the Nigerian lab services landscape including government and implementing partner landscapes.
  • Experience in designing and implementing laboratory system strengthening interventions.
  • Experience developing or supporting the development of laboratory systems guidance documents, strategic frame works, concept notes, SOPs, manuals etc.
  • Experience designing and executing capacity building events including the development of training manuals and training facilitation.
  • Very strong leadership experience.
  • Strong project management and communication skills required.

  • Position will work from the Laboratory unit of the FMoH and closely Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) [RSSH SR for Laboratory Services] and with all stakeholders towards a strengthened national laboratory systems.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Support the fleshing-out of the roles of the FMoH within the laboratory space
  • Support project stakeholder management effort especially as it relates to the lab sector.
  • Support the development of concept notes and guidance documents in relation to project interventions and activities.

  • Experience working with the key stakeholders within the Nigerian lab services landscape including government and implementing partner landscapes.
