Job Title: Instrumentation Technician

Job Description
- To ensure safety of commissioning activities on yard and on site, by performing activities in respect with Company standing instruction and Work Permit instructions.
- To ensure that the work identified in the work permit is performed according to company specification
Commissioning Execution:
- Performs on site the commissioning operations (test and check sheets ).
- Report any non-conformity to his Supervisor
- Ensures that the Company’s HSE regulations are respected (especially procedures related to Work Permits)
- Witnessing of contractor pre-commissioning activities as defined by the supervisor.
- Raise and clear punch List items
- Reporting and progress follow up
- Report daily activities to the supervisor
Expectations
- Minimum Qualification : Technician
- Education Level : High school or Higher National Diploma or Certificate
- Experience: 2-5 years in a similar position
Mandatory Competences:
- English / Commissioning / Instrumentation & Loop testing/Instrument tools : HART communicator , Druck pump
Recommended Competences:
- ICAPS/OPERCOM
- Computer: Be able to produce a report using Microsoft Word; be able to perform simple calculation with Microsoft Excel. Have been introduced to the use of the internet and e-mails.
- Petroleum: Have a basic understanding of facilities / process (from well to export). Be knowledgeable of hydrocarbons behaviour and associated risks (explosion, asphyxia…).
- Physics: Understanding and use of basic laws and units of physic (temperature, pressure, volume, density; specific gravity…).
Engineering:
- Be able to read and use drawings (P&ID’s, ESD matrix and loop diagrams), vendor documents, name plate, datasheets. Be knowledgeable of instrument symbols.
- Understand regulation principles and be able to analyse them (differentiation in between cascade, split range, simple).
- Have a basic understanding of PCS, F&G, and ESD systems. Understand inhibit, alarm and trip concepts.
Equipment:
- Understand working principle of basic instruments: level and interface level transmitters, thermocouples, manometers, vibration probes, metering devices (orifice plate, coriolis, turbine, volumetric)…
- Correct use and handling of tubing, compression fittings, gaskets, “O” rings, cable glands…
- Understand manual and automatic valves (including PSV) principle and command (positioner…).
- Be familiar with all types of F&G detection (fusible loop, UV/IR, gas, smoke);
- Know how to select and use the necessary hand tools.
- Correct use and handling of multimeters, calibration unit, hydraulic pumps, temperature bath, smart calibrator.

- Adexen Recruitment is mandated by an international Oil & Gas group to recruit a Punch List Coordinator for an offshore project.
Job Description
- To ensure safety of commissioning activities on yard and on site in respect with Company standing instructions and Work Permit instructions.
- To ensure that the work identified in the work permit is performed according to company specification.
- Take care for the organization of the work such as Logistic, tools, spare parts, authorization.
Safety and Operations Management:
- In charge to supervise yard and site execution as described in the Work permit. Ensure that :
- The risks and safety precautions highlighted in the work permit are well understood by his team,
- Check the place for any additional risks not identified in the work permit and report to his superintendent any hazardous deviation,
- Perform pre-job meeting, check that the tools and PPE are in good condition,
- Check that all required authorization to perform the job are granted,
- Ensure that Company Standing instruction, Site Operating procedure, and additional operating procedure such as SIMOPS are known by the team and enforced,
- Ensure that cleaning is done after completion of the work and the place is left safe.
- Has full authority to stop the job of any member of his team in case of hazardous situation or unsafe behavior.
- Stop any hazardous situation and immediately report to the site RSES.
Commissioning Execution:
- Supervise the Witnessing of contractor pre-commissioning activities by his team of technicians, as defined by the superintendent. Ensure that the witnessing is made in a professional way; evaluate the skills of the people performing the pre-commissioning. Ensure that witnessing activities do not delay contractor activities more than necessary.
- Manage a small team of technicians to ensure that the work identified in the WP is performed in a professional manner, in respect with company specification.
- Evaluate technical skills of his team members and help them to develop their skills on new equipment and technologies
- Organize the work and the team to get the job done with quality and avoid waste of time: manpower, logistic, tools, authorization, spare parts, documents…
- Raise and clear punch List items. Report any nonconformity to his superintendent.
- Validate Commissioning test and check sheets before superintendent approval.
- Verifies the quality of his teams’ interventions by frequent on-site checks
Reporting and progress follow up:
- Report daily activities to the superintendent.

Theoretical Knowledge:
- Petroleum: Have a basic understanding of facilities / process (from well to export). Be knowledgeable of hydrocarbons behaviour and associated risks (explosion, asphyxia…).
- Computer: Be able to produce a report using Microsoft Word; be able to perform simple calculation with Microsoft Excel. Have been introduced to the use of the internet and e-mails.
- Physics: Understanding and use of basic laws and units of physic (Newton’s law, forces, mass, energy…). Be knowledgeable of materials / steels characteristics (use, resistance, corrosion and its prevention).
Engineering:
- Be able to read and use drawings (P&ID’s, PFD’s, Isometrics), vendor documents (be able to determine tolerance and adjustment figures), name plate and data sheet.
- Be able to draw accurate sketches and item to scale.
Equipment:
- Understand the working principles of main mechanical equipment: filters, gear boxes, exchangers, air coolers, diesel engine, gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps or compressors, common valves types (butterfly, gate, ball, cage and PSV) and hydraulic systems (cranes, HPU, pumps).
- Be fully familiar with lubrication requirements and the different type of lubricants.
Practical Skills:
- Know how to select, use and maintain all the mechanical hand tools (all types of keys, files, drills, callipers, taps…).
- Be able to use measuring tools (micrometer, vernier, gauges…), torque wrench and fastener.
- Be able to operate and maintain pneumatic drills or grinders.
- Be able to use workshop equipment (pedestal drill, hydraulic press…), in particular machining and tooling.
- Know how to use basic lifting gear (chain block, slings…). Be trained to complete simple / basic lifting operation.
