Job Title: Contracts & Commercials Manager

Locations: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Core Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on corporate, contractual, regulatory, and civil issues.
  • Drafting and modifying contracts.
  • Representing clients in court.
  • Preparation, review and proper storage/control of all documents and contracts across all departments
  • Monitoring emerging issues & changes in the legislative & regulatory environment and advising stakeholders.
  • Maintaining proper commercial interactions with the relevant local, state, and federal governmental
  • Bodies, legislatures, and the community at large.
  • Identifying & advising in relation to business process & policy & make appropriate recommendations.
  • Examining and monitoring commercial transactions and provide legal opinion when needed.
  • Assisting clients through the legal procedure.
  • Advising customers on legal ramifications and the legal process.
  • Reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Attending variety of management meetings when needed
  • Being a trusted, solution-driven legal advisor and value-added partner by providing timely, commercial, and judgment-based legal advice, input, and oversight. This facilitates informed, risk-based decisionmaking by the front office stakeholders in their activities and seamless coordination and implementation of deals.
  • Engaging and working closely with external legal counsel as and when required and ensuring their accountability, cost efficiency and competitiveness and excellence in expertise and service delivery.
  • Identify legal risks, providing actionable, solution-orientated advice to mitigate those risks, reporting incidents of non-compliance as necessary and ensuring risks are properly understood and mitigated.
  • Handle difficult situations tactfully and diplomatically and prevent legal disputes through advisory measures.
  • Managing the organization’s relations external parties, liaise and interface with other units/departments and external solicitors.
  • Provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and job functions.
  • Provide all such other administrative and other secretarial duties as advised by the Outside Legal Counsel & Company Secretary.
  • Assist in the review and development of guidelines, policies, procedures.
  • Preparation and review of contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they follow all statutory and legal requirements.

QMS, EMS & QH&S Management System Responsibilities:

  • Operate in conformance with the requirements of the QMS, EMS and OHS.
  • Stop work in progress to make appropriate notifications when unsafe conditions exist,r requirements are not being met.
  • Proactive in ensuring the accomplishment of organizational goals along with self-development.
  • Ensure that personnel comply with applicable laws, regulations, specifications, standards, and documented procedures.
  • Awareness of your contribution to the effectiveness ofthe EMS and OHS, including the benefits of improved.
  • performance and associated opportunities for improvement of processes assigned.
  • Awareness of the implications of not conforming with SECRL EMS and OHS requirements including associated aspects and risks for the process assigned.
  • Ensure the service satisfies customer requirements including quality, safety, cost schedule, and performance.
  • Willing to take up additional roles and responsibilities as and when required.
  • Awareness, understanding and application of QMS, EMS and OHS policies on assigned jobs.
  • Awareness, understanding and application departmental /process EMS and OHS objectives.
  • Awareness of all possible hazards from assigned tasks and risk associated with assigned task, identification and relevant controls required.

Education & Skills Required

  • Minimum of 10 years post-call experience.
  • Competencies required in delivering accurate and relevant results and assessing risk including attention to detail, delivery of accurate and relevant research, proactivity and timeous delivery of requirements, ownership of problems, understanding of impact of non-delivery and sub-standard performance.
  • Skillful in ethical making decisions

  • Individual who is very motivated and dependable.
