Collections Specialist Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Collections Specialist:

  • Proven experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of billing procedures
  • Knowledge of various collection techniques
  • Knowledge of collection laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Contact clients and discuss their overdue payments
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
  • Comfortable working with targets
