Aquarian Consult Limited - Our client, one of the renowned in the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry is recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Trading Operator Job Code: AJ22-02 Locations: Abuja and Lagos Job Summary

  • The Trading Operator is responsible for the timely execution and implementation of agreed terms & conditions as per the trader’s deal recap.
  • He/She is responsible for all operational obligations as stated in the contract and is required to coordinate all service providers involved i.e. inspectors, agents, providers, brokers, vessel owners.
  •  He/She is also required to negotiate and charter vessels at best competitive rates, terms and conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and Control all Trade Operations related costs
  • Ensure all nominations; Voyage Order; Loading/Discharge Orders are sent out timely.
  • Monitor Progress of all operations.
  • Negotiate and charter vessels when required for an operation.
  • Review, negotiate and ensure Purchase & Sales contracts are in line with agreed terms as stated in the traders recap and as per Incoterms latest issue.
  • Liaise with counterparties to ensure smooth operations that will avoid delays and minimize demurrage costs
  • Liaise with all relevant service providers on a regular basis; ensuring all post deal activities & operational information are passed on in good time, as well as documentary requirements are met
  • Provide all cost related, Port Information, restrictions and limitations of proposed/intended purchase & supply to the trader.
  • Revert with constant feedback to the trader on operational difficulties encountered during operations for future negotiations.
Basic Qualifications
  • First degree in a relevant field
  • Additional relevant certifications will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 year Experience in Oil Trading Operations, Ship Operations and related logistics roles
  • Good knowledge of International trade and the Incoterms
  • Good knowledge of Shipping terms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Forward thinking with natural aptitude for implementing innovative processes
  • Understanding of the Oil & Gas streams.
Eligibility and Requirements:
  • Must be willing to travel, depending on business requirements.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Lagos or Abuja.

  • Understand the various financial instruments used by customers to conduct business.
  • Highly organized, with strong negotiation and sales leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands.
  • Strong work ethic, high energy level and positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including creativity and curiosity with the ability to effectively communicate and influence solution direction to both technical and nontechnical audiences alike across all organizational levels
  • Proven track record of account management and sales success.
