We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Safety & Environment Specialist

Location: Nigeria
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 Months

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and review of Hazards and Effects Register or Environmental Aspects Register.
  • Initiate and Lead Technical Safety DEM1 Compliance review.
  • Provide TSE review and input in Project design documents and reports
  • Lead SME & DEM1/DEM2 applicability assessment for design or asset changes
  • Commission periodic reviews of environmental regulations.
  • Identify changes to regulations or standards that may trigger the need for changes to or new environmental controls.
  • Support in the improvement of regulatory compliance projects
  • Prepare applications for (or variations to environmental certifications, permits or licenses.
  • Verify that all required HSSE & SP training and certification/licensing to meet legal requirements has been completed.
  • Confirm that local operating plans align with Business HSSE Plans.
  • Carry out a static safeguarding review on design/asset and put forward remediation as required for peer review.
  • Support the control of environmental aspects and impacts relevant to the Asset or Function. This might include carrying out an Impact Assessment, maintaining a Biodiversity Action Plan, manage Ozone Depleting Substances emission inventory, managing the use of HCFCs, managing soil and groundwater contamination, managing SOX and NOx emissions, managing VOC emissions, monitoring to detect leaks, manage waste and manage water use and discharges.
  • Provide assurance of environmental data and reports.
  • Verify that regulatory certificates, permits and license are up to date and that conditions are met to maintain compliance and maintain appropriate records.
  • Develop and drive implementation of the road-map to make hazard identification a 'hearts and minds' activity, with focus to improve situational awareness.

Qualification

  • B.Sc., BTech, HND or OND in Science or Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years.

Skills:

  • Skill in delivering HSE training, performing HSE inspection/audits and
    supporting incident investigation.
  • Skill in Project HSE Management / Construction Safety, Turnaround Maintenance Projects/SIMOPs in brownfield projects.
  • Candidate MUST have excellent computer skills and be versatile in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products (including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook), and Sharepoint
  • Certified auditor of HSSÉ & SP CF, EMS (ISO 14001), OSHAS 18001, etc.
  • Membership of HSSE and other relevant to the area of the service) professional bodies with national and international recognitions.
  • Skill in the implementation of Construction Sites Safety Standards. HSE requirements and
  • Skill in managing contractors and improving HSE capabilities of red banded contractors.
  • Skill of the relevant Shell HSE Standards and Procedures.
