What You Can Expect

  • The successful incumbent will be responsible for Credit Risk Management and FX Risk Management.
  • The responsibilities reach along the entire order-to-cash process and include the risk assessment of customers, the determination of credit limits, credit checks of sales orders, the management of order blocks as well as debt collection, among others.

Duties will include the following:

  • Managing treasury risk such as Foreign Currency Risk, Country Risk and Compliance Risk
  • Enforcing global treasury requirements and managing treasury risks associated with FX shortages in the country.
  • Proactively identifying treasury related risks and initiating adequate risk mitigation measures, in collaboration with the regional treasury EMEA team.
  • Close tracking of customers’ payment behavior, especially customers with low credit rating, recent downgrades, increasing overdue amounts or country risk
  • Understanding the in-country challenges, economic and political environment and the impact it has on the customer risk and / or customer's ability to pay its debts
  • Gain in-depth transparency about Customers (Ownership structure, corporate information, infrastructure, management, site, sustainability, etc.)
  • Decide on Dispute Management measures like prolongation and transfer to collection agency or further escalating measures (e.g. payment plans).
  • Providing pro-active updates to the regional treasury EMEA team about regulatory changes, changes in FX and money markets and the economic environment in Nigeria
  • Providing expertise and trainings in treasury risk management to local finance and controlling communities as well as business units
  • Monitor, validate and approve credit relevant Customer Master Data, e.g. payment terms, VAT number, customer contacts, fraud prevention, which are needed to perform Debt Collection, avoid fraud, etc.
  • Assessing a customer’s credit risk (Risk Assessment) by performing a credit risk analysis including detailed analysis of customer financials
  • Negotiation of repayment plans for financial criticalities / temporary difficulties with the BU and the customer.

What We Expect

  • Degree from a University in Finance or Business Administration or an equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Credit Risk and FX Risk Management for a large corporate with international footprint
  • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office is required whilst experience in SAP is preferred
  • Must be highly organized, able to work, think and act independently, able to work in a fast-paced environment and produce error free work.
