Job Title: Research and Operations Officer

Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full-time

Role Summary

  • The Research and Operations Officer will support the Nigeria Wind Energy Council (NWEC) by driving its research, communications, and operational efforts.
  • The role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills, a passion for renewable energy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to NWEC’s mission by producing market intelligence, supporting stakeholder communications, and ensuring seamless operational execution.

Key Responsibilities
Research and Market Intelligence:

  • Conduct in-depth research and market analysis on wind energy trends, policies, and opportunities in Nigeria and globally.
  • Prepare periodic industry reports, fact sheets, and white papers to support decision-making and advocacy efforts.
  • Monitor and analyse data from renewable energy projects and initiatives to generate actionable insights.

Communications:

  • Support NWEC’s advocacy efforts by preparing policy briefs, presentations, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate external communication with stakeholders, partners, and funders, ensuring alignment with NWEC’s objectives and messaging.
  • Develop, manage, and update content for NWEC’s communication channels, including newsletters, reports, social media, and the website.

Operations Support:

  • Help develop systems to monitor project implementation, track deliverables, manage budgets, and prepare reports for stakeholders and funders, ensuring efficient project execution within scope.
  • Research funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and organize fundraising to support NWEC's programs. Work with the team to create narratives that align with donor interests and organizational goals.
  • Organize and manage logistics for events, workshops, and meetings, including venue booking, participant invitations, agenda development, and post-event reporting, ensuring operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience in research, operations, or market intelligence within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or nonprofit sector.
  • Proven experience in producing high-quality research reports and managing stakeholder communication.
  • Deep understanding of the energy sector focusing on Nigeria, particularly renewables and wind power.

Skills:

  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible messages
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Proficiency in digital communications, social media management, and content creation tools
