Job Title: Structural Engineer
Location: Nigeria
Role Summary
- As a structural engineer you will be responsible for designing, planning and of new projects and buildings and will also be in charge of extensions or changes to existing structures.
Responsibilities
- The preparation of designs, reports and drawings.
- Making detailed calculations about loads and stresses by considering the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design;
- Considering the strength of the materials used and determine how their use will impact the structural design.
- Carefully examine building/structures that are in danger of collapsing and come up with ideas on how to improve their structural integrity.
- Ensuring that projects meet legal guidelines, health and safety regulations and environmental directives.
- Working with professionals in order to investigate ground conditions and make sure new structures are stable.
- Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction;
- Examine structures at risk of collapse and advising how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure;
- Make drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for building contractors;
- Liaise with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound;
- Use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology for simulation purposes.
- Represent the company at Project Meetings.
- Prepare and submit a detailed Daily, Weekly and Monthly Project Progress Report of all assigned projects.
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum of B.Sc/B-Tech in Civil Engineering/Architecture or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a similar position
- Good knowledge of MS Office and structural design software
- Very good knowledge of English
- Independent, interdisciplinary building skill and knowledge
- High level of motivation and commitment
- Must be a member of COREN. Professional qualification will be an added advantage
- Must be versatile with designs of buildings
- Experienced in analyzing configurations of basic structural components of a building or other structures
- Requisite experience in considering the strength of various materials to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
- Knowledge in liaising with other designers including Architects to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction
- Must be able to make drawings specification and computer models of structures for building contractors
- Must have strong analytical and technical skills.
- Must be sensitive to timeliness and deadlines and ensure work is accomplished within the stipulate time.
Job Title: Builder
Location: Nigeria
Role Summary
- The Builder must have strong experience in building and finishing projects. The individual would be in charge of overseeing the timely and profitable completion of our building projects, manage the overall construction process of individual homes to ensure quality work (via scopes of work) variance analysis that the projects remains within the established budget, and that the projects
Responsibilities
- Completing building projects on time and within budgets
- Organizing contractors including carpenters, electricians, plumbers and painters to carry out building tasks.
- Supervising contractors to ensure safety standards are maintained and works remain on schedule.
- Making sure that the project meets industry and government regulations as well as the company’s requirements.
- Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors Managing projects
- Inspecting properties to check conditions/foundations
- Ensure the proper programming, recording, measurement and accounting of projects by means of contemporary management and measurement techniques.
- Supervise ongoing projects and approve all materials, construction techniques and workmanship on a day-to-day basis.
- Provide Expert advice on all aspects of the works undertaken, especially regarding Project Supervision, Measurements, Contracts Monitoring and Quality Control.
- Represent the company at Project Meetings.
- Review and supervise Contractor’s work programs and sources of construction materials and characteristics thereof.
- Prepare and submit a detailed Daily, Weekly and Monthly Project Progress Report of all assigned projects.
- Resolving design and development problems
- Arranging inspections of building work.
- Scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
- Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
- Carefully examine building/structures that are in danger of collapsing and come up with ideas on how to improve their structural integrity.
- Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems;
Required Qualifications
- Must have a B.Eng/B.Tech or HND in Building Technology
- Minimum of 10 years work experience
- Highly organised with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with external and internal clients
- Organisational skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities
- Must be sensitive to timeliness and deadliness and ensure work is accomplished within the stipulated time.
- Must be detail oriented
