Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

General Description

  • The Quantity Surveyor would report to the Team Lead Technical Consultancy on a variety of construction related projects providing support with regards to project management, estimating, measuring, costing and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for undertaking a full range of pre and post-contract quantity surveying services.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the building construction and maintenance framework agreements.
  • Prepare preliminary or approximate estimates for budgeting and feasibility studies for all projects.
  • Market and investigative surveys for pricing construction works and validating contractors’ submissions
  • Assist in the preparation of the schedule of dilapidations.
  • Prepare bills of quantities for assigned construction projects.
  • Prepare specifications, and contract documentation and send them out to contractors
  • Track project delays and issues
  • Assist in the development of templates, frameworks, manuals, and policies
  • Organize and coordinate training for PMs
  • Track human resource usage on projects and advise leveling where necessary
  • Assist to develop and review Project Management Plan
  • Carryout performance appraisal on completed projects measured against Project Management Plan
  • Receive tenders and analyze them with recommendations
  • Responsible for site evaluation and recognizance on issues of alterations, omissions, and variations
  • Prepare financial statements; interim valuations; penultimate valuations and final account
  • Project cost control and proposing payment modules for projects.
  • Evaluating and advising on contractors’ claims
  • Advising on the determination of contract by client or contractor
  • Advising in cases of arbitration or legal actions
  • Carry out Value Engineering if there is a project budget overrun.
  • Review with project management Office (PMO) program of works (POWs) developed by PMs and/or contractors.
  • Assist in developing design specifications.
  • Manage special projects.
  • Follow up, track, and manage cost issues on projects.
  • Carry out quality checks on ongoing projects.
  • Assist in project conflict resolution

Requirements
Education and Experience:

  • First Degree in Quantity Surveying. A Master's Degree will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years post-NYSC experience in a similar role in a respectable organization.
  • Registration with QSRBN and professional qualifications will be an advantage.
