Human Rights Advancement, Development and Advocacy Centre (HURIDAC) is a regional non-governmental organisation in West Africa. HURIDAC strategic intervention focuses on issues that relates to Rule of law, Election and Human Rights; and the protection of the Environment. Established in 2014, the organisation currently operates in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.

Job Title: Program & Advocacy Officer

Location:  Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Summary

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program and Advocacy Officer (PAO) to manage and implement our programs.
  • The PAO will be responsible for developing project proposals, managing programs , implementing advocacy activities , coordinating with partners and stakeholders, monitoring and evaluating program activities, and ensuring that projects are implemented on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement HURIDAC's programs
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance HURIDAC's policy goals
  • Monitor policy developments and conduct research and analysis to inform advocacy efforts
  • Develop project proposals in collaboration with team members
  • Draft and disseminate advocacy materials, including policy briefs, reports, and press releases
  • Coordinate with other team members and partners to ensure effective advocacy campaigns
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and plans for HURIDAC's programs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and donor requirements
  • Represent HURIDAC at relevant meetings, conferences, and events
  • Draft and disseminate advocacy materials, including policy briefs, reports, and press releases
  • Coordinate with other team members and partners to ensure effective advocacy campaigns
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy activities and adjust strategies as needed
  • Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of projects
  • Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure that they meet project objectives and are implemented in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Prepare regular progress reports for management and other stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including policymakers, civil society organizations, and the media
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Human Rights, International Development, Social Sciences, etc.); Master's Degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, civil society organizations, and the media
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Fluency in English is required, proficiency in French language is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience in resource mobilisation; managing programs and implementing advocacy activities, preferably in the NGOs and charity sector.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting and financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing
  • Experience developing project proposals and engagement with donors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
