The World Literacy Foundation (WLF) is a global charity committed to breaking the cycle of illiteracy for children and young people. We address unique literacy challenges in diverse communities through various initiatives: UK Reads (United Kingdom) – Distributes books and literacy resource packs to high-deprivation communities and facilitates global pen pal projects, Sun Books (Sub-Saharan Africa) – Provides solar-powered tablets with 800+ eBooks and literacy tools to off-grid communities in Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda, Aprende Leyendo (Colombia) – Offers weekly literacy tutoring, reading activities, and digital resources, including the WLF Dingo App, USA Reads (United States) – Expands literacy access through book distribution, pop-up libraries, and volunteer-led initiatives, ROOP (Australia) – Supports early literacy for low-income, migrant, refugee, and Indigenous families, implementing digital learning tools in remote areas, Youth Ambassador Program (Global) – Trains and empowers over 4,500 young individuals from 110+ countries to advocate for literacy and create lasting change and WLF’s mission is to provide every child with access to literacy resources, helping them develop the skills needed to succeed and escape poverty.

Job Title: Global Volunteer Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

  • The Global Volunteer Manager will lead and expand WLF’s international volunteer program, creating a structured and impactful platform for individuals to contribute their time and skills worldwide.
  • This role will focus on recruitment, engagement, training, and retention of volunteers across various regions.
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for global community building, excellent organizational skills, and experience managing large-scale volunteer programs.

Key Responsibilities
Global Volunteer Program Development & Management:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive international volunteer strategy aligned with WLF’s mission.
  • Create and implement onboarding programs, training materials, and digital learning tools for volunteers.
  • Utilize digital tools and volunteer management software to track global volunteer participation and impact.
  • Ensure a positive volunteer experience by providing ongoing support, mentorship, and recognition.
  • Develop structured volunteer roles across different countries, ensuring meaningful engagement.
  • Oversee global volunteer participation in literacy projects, fundraising, advocacy, and outreach initiatives.

Recruitment & Engagement:

  • Develop and execute international recruitment campaigns through social media, partnerships, and global outreach.
  • Increase global volunteer retention through engagement strategies, events, and training programs.
  • Organize quarterly volunteer development sessions to enhance skills and strengthen commitment.
  • Establish collaborations with universities, corporate CSR programs, and community organizations.
  • Manage high-value volunteers, including influencers, ambassadors, and professional skill-based volunteers.

Performance Tracking & Impact Measurement:

  • Monitor and evaluate global volunteer contributions, ensuring alignment with WLF’s impact goals.
  • Track volunteer engagement data across regions to identify trends and optimize program effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports for senior management, funders, and stakeholders on global volunteer program outcomes.

Community & Fundraising Initiatives:

  • Encourage volunteers to participate in fundraising campaigns to support WLF’s global programs.
  • Support volunteers in hosting fundraising events (e.g., Facebook Fundraisers, GoFundMe).
  • Promote WLF’s mission through public speaking engagements, advocacy campaigns, and community outreach.
  • Organize international community education and literacy awareness initiatives through volunteer networks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing large-scale, global volunteer programs.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee international initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in using volunteer management software, CRM systems, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills to track program impact across countries.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global nonprofit environment.
  • Experience with recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers across multiple regions.
  • Ability to create and maintain partnerships with organizations, universities, and corporate sponsors.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
  • Experience working with international non-profit organizations.
  • Experience managing virtual and remote volunteer teams.
  • Digital marketing or social media advocacy experience.
  • Knowledge of corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships.
  • Background in fundraising and donor engagement.

Salary
N350,000 - N450,000 monthly.
