South Saharan Social Development Organization (SSDO) is a duly registered non-profit organization in Nigeria, with a primary focus of equipping young women and men with the social, health, economic, educational and political skills needed to survive and compete favourably in a vastly changing and urbanizing sub Saharan Africa. South Saharan Social Development Organization calls for application from suitably qualified candidates for the position below: Job Title: Prgramme Officer Location: Nigeria Terms of Reference (ToR)

  • Develop, operationalize and revise project work-plans to ensure project activities are carried out as and when scheduled.
  • Establish an effective information management system for the project.
  • Ensure that SSDO actions are ethnically fair and proportionate.
  • Coordinate with other departments in SSDO to prepare and implement project monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Review, produce activity and periodic report;
  • Establish improved mechanisms, guidelines and operating principles for project management
  • Set up, plan, supervise and monitor the project at the field level to ensure the successful implementation of all projects activities, the generation of planned outputs and attainment of key project objectives.
  • To ensure all activities undertaken are appropriately documented (agreement/MOUs with relevant bodies, Registration lists, work plans and accounts when relevant etc).
  • To budget and monitor project expenditures to ensure they are in line with SSDO and donor requirements.
  • Liaise with other Departments to coordinate procurement and other needs for project implementation and organization base support.
  • To produce Departmental internal report on weekly and monthly basis.
  • To provide internal reporting as requested from coordination and line management.
  • To accurately manage payrolls for beneficiaries
  • Perform other duties as requested by Executive Director.
Qualifications/Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Development studies, Social science or other relevant discipline
  • Project Management experience in Donor Funded Projects
  • Demonstrated experience in project management in an NGO/INGO is highly preferable.
  • Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Hands On experience in report writing.
  • Good inter-personal skills, commitment and motivation.
  • Pleasant and amiable personality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Result oriented, with excellent report writing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Intellectual agility and the ability to analyze think critically and understand issues and trends in the non- profit sector.
  • Prior significant humanitarian work experience is an added advantage.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure;
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
  • Fluent in Igbo and English languages.
