We are recruiting to fill the position below:   Job Title: Policy Research Analyst Location: Abuja Background

  • Nigeria is plagued by a myriad of developmental challenges. From its founding in 2011, Nextier has been providing evidence-based support to agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria responsible for addressing these challenges.
  • Nextier seeks to recruit a Policy Research Analyst to join its growing team.
  • He/she would work within a team of other analysts to support seniors in the firm. The role is based in Abuja
Duties and Responsibilities The Policy Research Analyst will:
  • Carry out policy research and analysis on key issues in Nigeria’s development space
  • Lead public policy dialogue initiatives in policy and development
  • Write policy papers, reports, and research summaries for internal and external audiences
  • Monitor external research and policy developments.
Corporate Competencies The Policy Research Analyst will:
  • Possess an understanding of and interest in Nigeria’s development issues
  • Possess an understanding of macroeconomic issues and how they relate to policy development
  • Promote the vision, mission and strategic goals of Nextier Advisory

Functional Competencies The Policy Research Analyst will have:
  • Some experience in providing policy advice
  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Proven written and presentation skills in a range of formats and to a range of audiences
  • Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management and reporting
  • Ability to advise and oversee formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and programmes
  • Proven ability to incorporate into his/her work relevant international practices
Management Competencies The Policy Research Analyst will:

Required Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have:
  • Master’s Degree in Development Studies, Public Policy and Administration, Economics or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in providing project and programme support
  • Experience working in an international organization, preferably and familiarity with political analysis, as well as crisis prevention and recovery issues
  • Excellent knowledge of Nigeria.
