The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) seeks suitable Nigerian for the position below at the Institutes Headquarters, Ibadan:
Job Title: Legal & Administrative Officer

Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Assist the DDG, Corporate Services with drafting, reviewing,
negotiating, hosting agreements, tenancy/ lease agreements, country
agreement/ MoUs, documents with government ministries and departments,
contracts/agreement or other legal documents with suppliers/vendors/
service providers etc.;
- Communicate and interact with PDAU staff for filing and
uploading on the database of hosting agreements, tenancy/ lease
agreements, country agreements/ MoUs, documents with government
ministries and departments;
- Take minutes at Corporate Services-related meetings when required;
- Provide legal advice to the Youth Agripreneurs;
- Draft and review legal documentation of the Youth in Agribusiness Office;
- Serve as a member of the advocacy team for the Youth in Agribusiness Office;
- Participate in negotiations for the Youth in Agribusiness Office when required.
- Participate and contribute in high-level meetings and events on policies for youth and agriculture etc.;
- Be a member of the Intellectual Property (IP)
- Maintain and oversee Corporate Services filing system;
- Assist in drafting and vetting legal letters and correspondence;
- Handle other correspondence and paperwork;
- Provide administrative assistance to DDG-Corporate Services (related to travel meetings and purchase orders etc.);
- Perform any such other duties, properly assigned, as may be occasioned by the exigencies of the service.
Qualification
- B.Sc in Law or related discipline with two (2) years related
experience. Possession of related professional certification will be an
added advantage.

Job Title: Laboratory Attendant

Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Assist in general cleaning of laboratory and screen house;
- Assist in washing of glass wares;
- Assist in autoclaving and carry out maintenance of laboratory equipment’s;
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations of the Biotechnology laboratory;
- Assist with photography needs of the laboratory;
- Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification
- Good O’level certificate with at least Two (2) years relevant experience on laboratory cleanliness and maintenance.
Competencies
Ideal Candidate must:

- Be able to work under minimal supervision.
Job Title: Project Technician I

Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Assist the research assistant and project scientist (IITA and NARS);
- Assist in the field site selection and description at the partner’s field sites;
- Assist in training extension agents (EAs), farmers and
technicians in site selection, measuring geo-reference and setting up
field trials;
- Assist in backstopping and monitoring the correct and timely
implementation of all research related operations (measuring pegging,
planting, weeding, fertilizer etc.) in on-farm trials;
- Assist partners in sourcing cassava planting materials and the correct preparation of these materials;
- Assist the EAs, farmers and technicians on practical issues on
field that are related to the experimental set-up, implementation of
operations, management and harvest procedures;
- Back-up partners fields teams in emergency situation;
- Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification
- OND in General Agriculture or any related fields with at least Two (2) years relevant experience.
Competencies
Ideal Candidate must:
- Have excellent interpersonal, communication skill and ability to communicate ideas;
- Be able to work with Microsoft Office tools
- Be able to work with little or no supervision
