Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Contract: 2-years renewable contract

Duties

  • Provide support to the development and implementation of Nigeria research programme performance, monitoring and evaluation plans to track effectively all projects activities, outcomes, and results. This includes supporting the development of indicators (quantitative and qualitative), as well as processes and tools to measure them.
  • Develop appropriate data products to store, update and analyze project M&E data.
  • Take responsibility for regular updating of the Nigeria research programme activities in the CGIAR MEL platform.
  • Lead the collation and presentation of projects data for projects reviews as required by donors.
  • Liaise with communications team at WorldFish HQ to assist with the development of project communication and capacity building products.
  • Ensure proper storage/filing of M&E document including questionnaire, monitor reports, datasets among others.
  • Participate in regular data verification exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified.
  • Collaborate with WorldFish Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to assist to develop databases on project activities.
  • Engage directly with projects activities in focal states and countries to understand project implementation to develop appropriate monitoring and evaluation approaches.
  • Act as Nigeria focal point for the MEL platform, providing advice and capacity building to Dili-based staff.
  • In collaboration with Nigeria WorldFish staff, provide inputs to project reporting to donors and WorldFish.

Qualifications

  • BSc / HND in Fisheries, Animal Science, Agriculture Economics, Social Development Studies, Statistics or related fields with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the design and implementation of research activities, including several years in the development and execution of surveys and related data analysis, preferably within a research organization or international NGO.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Be experienced in the field of Monitoring and Evaluation of project activities and deliverables in a non-profit research organization.
  • Have demonstrated experience in the area of knowledge/information management.
  • Have experience in conducting farm surveys and field data collection, data storage, preferably in donor funded or not for profit environment set up.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and show a high level of general computer literacy.
  • Have high level of proficiency in written English.
  • Be comfortable and confident working within a diverse international team, with good interpersonal and communication skills to a broad range of colleagues and partners.
  • Have the willingness and ability to undertake extended periods of travel within Nigeria and, possibly internationally.
  • Have excellent networking, and negotiation skills with staff, value chain actors counterparts, and partners, and excellent communication skills verbal and written in English.
  • Have demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and present information to a high standard for reporting and stakeholder communication.
  • Have ability to think clearly and analytically, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, solving problems, and making timely and appropriate decisions
