  • Palladium seeks Value Chain Experts for an anticipated USAID-funded Nigeria opportunities in Agriculture Competitiveness Project.
Responsibilities
  • Provides technical leadership for one or several value chains in Nigeria.
  • Responsible for identify growth opportunities and value addition for several strategic value chains in Nigeria: Cassava, soy/legumes, aquaculture, rice, maize, sorghum.
  • Advises on best practices for value chain development in the aforementioned foods throughout the country through climate smart agriculture, post-harvest handling, processing, trade and enterprise development.
  • Experience in training, provision of technical assistance and public private facilitation among smallholders and value chain actors.

  • Oversees and leads analysis of selected food value chains with emphasis on growth opportunities and improvement of product quality, value chain addition, feasibility of agribusiness investment projects. Analysis should also include assessment of constraints/opportunities related to agribusiness investment, support services, and private sector engagement.
  • Facilitates relationships between value chain actors including smallholders, traders, financial institutions, buyers, processors and agribusiness.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Crop Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or related field. Knowledge of aquaculture a plus.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working with USAID or another donor agency.
  • Seven years professional work experience in the specific value chains outlined above.
  • This includes experience in crop/aquaculture production, crop/aquaculture protection, food security, value chain development including facilitation, agribusiness, marketing, and financial services, private sector development, and enabling environment policy reforms.

  • Supports project activities related to agriculture, nutrition and behavior change messaging and outreach
  • Supports the development of project deliverables, including coordinating information gathering for weekly, quarterly, annual reports and annual work plans, one-pagers, reports, etc. Contributes to the sections of deliverables related to M&E and Communications
  • Ensures appropriate branding and marking for all communications tools
  • Oversees the design and implementation of all tools to effectively communicate project activities and results, (i.e. website, videos, visual images, Investment Mapping System (IMS), press releases, flyers, etc.)
  • Maintains project library of all communications tools, photos and events in a digital format
  • Conducts media relations for the project, including targeted publicity for project activities and responses to queries from press. Writes press releases, organizes press conferences, schedules interviews for spokespersons for the project, etc.
  • Oversees gathering of all news for digital clipping booklet highlighting the work of the project and partners

Requirements Qualifications:

Responsibilities
  • Provides overarching vision in value chain development across several staple food crops, including nutrition sensitive value chains.
  • Provides technical leadership to value chain specialists, trouble shooting as necessary any challenges to specific value chain development
  • Advises on best practices for value chain development throughout the country through climate smart agriculture, post-harvest handling, processing, trade and enterprise development.
  • Develops concepts, methodologies, guidelines and indicators for agricultural marketing and inclusive and sustainable agri-food value chain development;
  • Oversees and leads analysis of selected food value chains with emphasis on growth opportunities and improvement of product quality, value chain addition, feasibility of agribusiness investment projects. Analysis should also include assessment of constraints/opportunities related to agribusiness investment, support services, and private sector engagement.
  • Facilitates relationships between value chain actors including smallholders, traders, financial institutions, buyers, processors and agribusiness.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in crop production, agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics or related field. Knowledge of aquaculture a plus.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working with USAID or another donor agency.
  • Seven years professional work experience in crop production and/or crop protection, or food security, value chain development including facilitation, agribusiness, marketing, and financial services, private sector development, and enabling environment policy reforms.
  • Experience in training, provision of technical assistance and public private facilitation among smallholders and value chain actors.
  • Previous experience in Nigeria preferred

  • Prepares and reviews grant documents
  • Reviews recipient reports and documentation for compliance with agreement/sub-agreement terms and conditions

Requirements Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or any other relevant field. Or Bachelor Degree with at least 10 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or any other relevant field can be substituted for a Master
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing grants for donor organizations. Experience with USAID grants management system highly preferred
