We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Publishing Assistant
Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2017-0026
Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3 year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Participate in the designing and producing collateral materials
for conferences, training, events, and meetings, i.e., name tags,
tabletent flyers, programs, flyers, banners, medical IDs, complimentary
cards, staff ID cards, streamers, posters, signages and other visual
materials;
- Participate in developing graphics and visual design, and
layouts for various communication products and mediums based on design
briefs;
- Work on publication layouts using templates and prescribed formats
- Discuss design job requirements, messages, strategies and presentations with clients
- Digitize and organize documents, publications, images, slides,
and other graphic assets for posterity based on specifications and
according to IITA archival system and Open Access principles;
- Perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- OND in Computer Science with at least three (3) years’ of
experience in doing layouts and compositing or assembling communication
materials using computer design packages.
Competencies
The ideal candidate must:
- Have computer and desktop publishing skills.
- Have good interpersonal skills.
Job Title: Communication and Media Assistant

Recruitment Type: National (3 year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Regularly produce communication materials, such as the weekly
newsletter with CO team of writers, editors, and designers in a timely
manner.
- Write online content, updates, features, and articles for IITA
communication outlets, including the weekly newsletter (IITA News),
monthly staff newsletter (Talking Drums), IITA social media outlets,
IITA website, other IITA online sites, and other communication channels
- Prepare copy for other communication materials, calendars,
posters, flyers, slide presentations, other communication products: as
needed.
- Conduct interviews with scientists, staff, and visitors for
institutional events, official functions, human interest and science
stories: at least four interviews per month.
- Document institutional events, meetings, workshops, conferences, and training through stories and photos: as needed
- Organize media briefings and events for IITA: as needed
- Provide communication backstopping for other programs/projects
and other communication focal points on institutional and project
events and other related initiatives: as needed
- Assist in undertaking communication research and M&E
activities: research on newsletter readership and assessment of other
publications.
- Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualification
- HND/BSc. in Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or
related field with minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing
same role.
Competencies
The ideal candidate must:
- Be experience in science writing and in writing copy/stories and
posts for various media: newspapers, blogs, flyers, briefing
materials, social media platforms, etc.
- Have excellent writing and verbal and oral communication skills.
- Have ability to simplify and translate technical concepts into clear, understandable language
- Proficiency in use of social media and Web tools, including mobile applications
- Have good photographic skills
- Have knowledge of editing.
- Have working knowledge of layout and graphic software such as InDesign is desirable.
Job Title: Digital Communication Assistant

Recruitment Type: National (3 year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Organize and manage the media asset bank and archiving both in Communication Unit and Data and Information Management Unit;
- Take a logical approach to image management and supply the image
database repository with meta tagging information using prescribed
tools;
- Process, upload, store, retrieve and manage research images in compliance with Open Access Policy
- Provide support, respond to enquiries and requests for images
from researchers, colleagues, clients and other databases on media
assets;
- Assure copyright compliance for images and other media assets;
- Conduct training on image management, metadata tagging, and related topics;
- Prepare periodic reports on IITA image repository;
- Perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- B.ScHND in Agriculture, Science, Communication, Library Science,
Management or related field with at least three (5) years’ experience,
preferably performing same role.
Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:
- Be proficient in using computers, archiving and some graphic and imaging applications.
- Have good communication skill.
Job Title: Marketing and Visitors Service Officer

Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3 year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Maintain and promote the institute’s image and brand through a positive and proactive awareness campaign;
- Organize, coordinate, conduct visits, excursions and tours
including logistics support for institutional events, exhibitions,
conferences, seminars and workshops as needed;
- Promote IITA and its work by providing up-to-date and adequate
information about IITA activities and projects among various publics;
- Ensure positive visitor experience for all IITA visitors, i.e.
students, farmers, partners, VIPs, media, and other groups/ individuals;
- Liaise with IITA units, including Security, Facilities
Management Services FMS), Hospitality and Travel Services (HOSTRA),
General Directorate, Western Africa Hub and other offices to arrange
visits and schedules within and outside the Institute with other
logistic requirements;
- Manage the Corporate Store and assist in marketing corporate/institutional and promotional products;
- Provide support for internal communication, inductions and orientations for new staffs;
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and information dissemination efforts of the IITA Communication team;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- BSc./HND in Mass Communication, Agriculture, Psychology or
related disciplines with minimum of three (3) years’ experience in print
or digital media house preferably in an international organization
Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:
- Have exceptional customer relations and interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have proficiency knowledge of computer applications skills.
Job Title: Research Technician III

Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3 year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Carryout regeneration and rescue of seed lots on the field and screen house to improve the quality of research
- Coordinate Planting, spraying of herbicides and insecticides;
- Collect and enter research data using appropriate research tools
- Coordinate labor recruitment, time keeping and supervise casual worker during field activities;
- Carry out characterization and evaluation of seeds crop;
- Participate in planting operation in the outstation seed regeneration activities;
- Coordinate casual Coordinate casual labor and consultants to
carry out regeneration and characterization activities on the field and
screen house;
- Organize day to day activities on regeneration and virus indexing of seeds crops.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- National Diploma in Crop production, General Agriculture or related field
- At least Six (6) years’ experience performing same role.
Competencies
The ideal candidate must:
- Be computer literate and have good sense of cleanliness.
- Have good research activity knowledge
- Have good safety precaution techniques.
