  • Co-develop (with CTO) portfolio management processes and tools and implement same consistently. Drive the respective asset teams to undertake asset management approaches that will ensure value maximization across the entire enterprise asset portfolio, not just their individual assets.
  • Coordinate the annual business planning process ensuring timely delivery of the business plan and supporting budget
  • Provide, own and manage the economics and commercial models and provide the analysis required to support opportunity maturation and portfolio management efforts (whether the underlying studies are undertaken internally or by third-party contractors)
  • Lead the economics and commercial efforts required to support asset valuation for A&D initiatives
  • Mentor and develop direct reports and less experienced staff
  • Deputize for CTO as may from time to time be required
  • All short and long-term economic evaluations to ensure strategic growth of the business in Nigeria consistent with approved work programs and budgets.
  • Lead gas commercialization strategy for the company in Nigeria, including in depth analysis of regional gas and power markets.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for our commercial agreements.
  • Lead commercial and Inter-field negotiations and associated work.
  • Lead third party facility use negotiations (as appropriate).
  • Deliver all commercial responsibilities required under Crude and Gas Sales Agreements and other commercial agreements.
  • Mentor, develop and manage a team of economists (business analysts) and commercial advisers.
  • Work closely with the Business Services and Development and Operations Directors in developing and delivering long term strategy for the Nigeria Business Unit.
  • Deliver Nigeria Commercial Risk Management and Assurance Plan.
  • Ensure that all economic analyses of the project are accurate and appropriately reflect the project assumptions and risks.
  • Deliver key aspects of annual Group planning cycle deliverables and serve on business unit planning leadership team.
  • Undertake robust decision analysis on a comprehensive set of economic scenarios or project realisations and transforming the results into a clear set of recommendations, with identified trade-offs.
  • Maintain contact with other Upstream Operators in Nigeria, as well as key stakeholders in the government and private sector, particularly in relation to crude and gas demand.
  • Lead joint venture commercial work, maintaining strong relationships with non-operator companies.
  • Actively seeks value creation opportunities from both current portfolio and potential future opportunities in Nigeria.
  • Coordinate the company’s business process; develop and implement the commercial strategy for the organization, and help identify and develop business opportunities, in addition manage projects from inception to conception.
  • Ensure the organization grows in line with the business strategy while maximizing commercial interest and profitability; and will be the commercial lead for; providing leadership in such commercial efforts as contracting and procurement, cost leadership, gas commercialization, new business development etc.
  • Build, update and manage the organization opportunity portfolio ensuring that an up-to-date, healthy maturation funnel is available to support the growth and value creation objectives of the company
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Track record of creating value by entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to close high value transactions with expertise in upstream oil and gas contracts.
  • Good understanding of, and experience across, the E&P lifecycle, especially appraisal to production.
  • In depth knowledge of upstream economic value drivers and analysis.
  • Knowledge of hydrocarbon reserves and resource definitions and supporting economic analysis
  • Experience in field development planning.
  • Good understanding of finance and financial metrics.
  • Demonstrable working experience and expertise in building economics/commercial models and performing scenario analysis and portfolio management.
  • Expertise in the relevant techniques and tools.
  • Experience with programming in MS Excel macros or Visual Basic will be a strong advantage
  • Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Target driven, goal-oriented, independent thinker, problem solver and strong team player with the ability to build necessary alliances and relationships upwards and downwards in the organization and build strong external networks to benefit the business.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance and any other relevant discipline. MBA in finance or management related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • 15-20 years of experience, with a minimum of 10 years with an operator.
  • Extensive experience in the upstream oil/gas sector with demonstrable economics, negotiations, commercial and overall business expertise
  • Experience with gas commercialization, ideally in emerging market with detailed understanding of and experience in conducting economic analysis.
  • Experience with risk management assessments and the screening and evaluation of commercial opportunities based on limited inputs and analogues while delivering acquisition and divestment economic support across a variety of deal structures.
