Job for a Human Resources Manager at Sahel Capital Agribusiness Managers Limited


Sahel Capital Agribusiness Managers (“Sahel Capital”) is fund manager for the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN). FAFIN is an agriculture-focused private equity fund established by several international DFIs and Sovereigns. The mission of the fund is to catalyze agriculture-led inclusive economic growth in Nigeria by increasing the amount of commercial capital available for agricultural enterprises in the country providing competitive returns to investors. We are recruiting to fill the position below:   Job Title: Human Resources Manager Location: Lagos Job Description The Head, Human Resources will have management level experience, a strong background in People Development, World class, HR best practices, Systems, Structures, and a passion for SME development in the Food and agriculture space. Ideal candidate will have the skillset to provide significant support to Sahel Capital and Invested portfolio companies in the following in areas including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Lead the process to find, identify, screen, document and maintain on-going relationship with prospective candidates for various roles at portfolio companies. Individual should have a reasonable enough network within FMCG and other relevant industries to tap into candidate pipeline without necessarily relying on HR firms/head hunters.
  • Lead development and implementation of Sahel Capital HR policies, advise on comparable and competitive remuneration structure and optimize HR processes within Sahel capital and portfolio companies
  • Lead HR Due Diligence process during deal execution.
  • Leverage on work experience and relationships within West African region (not just Nigeria) to add value to Sahel goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate quarterly or bi-annual, closed door, small group, invite-only meetings or other events that brings together talent pipeline for Sahel and/or portfolio companies which Sahel can use to identify talent and build relationships over time with those it may want to on-board in near-to-medium term.
  • Coordinate performance management process, skills audits, training, and development for Sahel team; as well as on targeted basis for Senior Management at portfolio companies.
Job Attributes
  • Postgraduate qualification and professional certification/Affiliation in Business, HR or related discipline.
  • Ability to lead and work with teams to achieving unit and organizational objectives
  • Public/external bodies liaison skills and experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and/or/for work in different geographical regions within and outside Nigeria.
  • Minimum 7 years working experience in Human Resources Management (West African Regional experience would be added advantage)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
