Job Title: Inventory Officer

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a meticulous and organized Inventory Officer to oversee inventory and supplies for our construction projects.
  • The successful candidate will ensure materials are stored properly, tracked efficiently, and readily available to meet project demands.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:

  • Receive and inspect incoming materials for quality and accuracy against purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and track the movement of materials in and out of the storage area.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.

Quality Control: 

  • Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials to verify compliance with quality standards. Assess and document the condition of materials upon receipt and throughout storage.
  • Compliance: Ensure all materials comply with industry regulations and company policies related to quality and safety.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse and procurement teams to optimize inventory flow and address quality-related concerns.
  • Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on inventory levels and material quality, providing insights to improve inventory processes and maintain high standards.

Order Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, and Site Supervisors to forecast material needs and reorder supplies as necessary.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders for required materials.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate documentation for all inventory transactions, including receipts, dispatches, and returns.
  • Promptly report discrepancies and issues to management.

Storage Organization:

  • Organize and manage the storage area to optimize space and facilitate easy access to materials.
  • Implement and maintain labelling and storage systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in the storage area and on the construction site.
  • Follow best practices for handling and storing materials to prevent damage and accidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience as a storekeeper, preferably in the construction industry, is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
