Job Title: Inventory Accountant
Location: Lagos
Reporting to: Finance Manager

Role Summary

  • This role is responsible for handling accounting functions for Frutta relating to the cost of inventory and fixed asset accounting. This includes merchandise and materials on hand, as well as determining inventory accounting methods, analyze inventory reports and monitor all inventory transactions.
  • This professional is responsible for determining inventory costs so that the team can determine selling prices for goods and make other informed decisions. This role is also responsible for monitoring of the fixed asset, keeping track of assets from the moment they are purchased to the moment they are sold and ensure that they are accounted for appropriately.

Job Description

  • Management of the inventory sub-ledger and general ledger
  • Management of inventory holding levels
  • Inventory costing and standardization of costing methodologies
  • Monthly Stock Count, valuation and reporting
  • Reconciliation of Cost of Sales Analysis and manufacturing cost
  • Daily update of inventory and fixed asset records in the company’s ERP
  • Responsible for all inventory and cost of production ledger on the Trial balance
  • Ensuring improvement in internal controls related to inventory
  • Monitor Cost of Raw Materials and Production
  • Perform regular physical inventory counts of fixed assets
  • Give recommendations to management regarding the disposal (or not) of fixed assets
  • Perform analysis related to fixed assets when requested by management
  • Prepare audit schedules for fixed assets and responsible for auditor’s inquiries
  • Liaises with government agents during audits of fixed assets
  • Monitor the expenditures of the company for fixed assets in comparison to capital budget and management authorizations
  • Fully responsible for disposal of fixed asset
  • Reconciles finished goods inventories and determines the cost of production
  • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
  • Carry out all other special assignments as may be required for efficient and effective inventory management
  • Accounting for recording of the newly acquired fixed asset
  • Tracking, recording and accounting for fixed asset and depreciation
  • Calculate the depreciation for all fixed assets
  • Responsible for fixed asset tagging and verification exercise
  • Maintains and align fixed asset register with the GL balance
  • Determination of stock adjustment requirements
  • Development of inventory aging and inventory days reports
  • Determination of landing cost, product cost and margin analysis
  • Provision of inventory financial inputs to forecast and budget models
  • Providing support to the supply chain team on inventory planning and controls
  • Accounting for Stock Movements and Diagnose the Cause of Inventory Variance
  • Developing of Inventory report in a timely manner for management use
  • Perform periodic impairment reviews for all tangible and intangible assets
  • Any other task as assigned by the Finance Manager

Qualifications

  • University Degree / HND in Accounting, Business Administration, Social Science
  • Membership of ICAN is an added advantage
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to be able to handle pressure and be multi-tasking.
  • Experienced in applying basic accounting principles. 
  • Equivalent Experience in Inventory Accounting, Stock take & Record keeping in FMCG Industry/Supply Chain is essential.
  • Experienced in the use of ERP or inventory and accounting software.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • 5 - 7 year experience in similar position
